"So baby, My first paycheck from Tia didn't come in yet, but bills need to be paid and since you said you'll handle my bills until I find another job, the bills are due." I told Bryson over the phone.

"I'll cash app you right now. How much you need? And what's due?"

"Rent is due, and my phone bill needs to be paid..."

"Ight baby I'll take care of it. Text me how much you need and I gotchu."

"Thanks daddy." I blew him a kiss over the phone.

"Mhm." He hummed. "I luh you girl."

"I love you too." I blushed.

"I know I ain't been able to spend a night over there since I'm out hea in Miami. But you been good? Or yo ass still paranoid?"

"I'm still a little paranoid. But I guess I'm fine... I just wish you was here lying next to me."

"I do too mama. But I'll be back tomorrow morning. Yo ass better not oversleep and forget to pick me up from the airport."

I giggled a bit. "I won't baby."

"Ight love. I'll see you tomorrow."

"Okay baby." I blew him another kiss over the FaceTime screen then hung up the phone.

The next day

My first time taking a perc was two days ago. And I kinda like it, and I feel so guilty for it. I took it yesterday and this morning and I hate myself for it. My parents are probably rolling in their grave right now. And not to mention the drug also helped me focus in class.

"Penelope." My professor of my education class said, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Oh. Yes? I'm sorry. What did you say?"

My professor Amelia always likes to talk to me after class is over. I know I'm her favorite student and she's my favorite professor. And she's fun to talk to, she's like one of my friends that I have in Memphis.

"I said I see potential in you." Amelia said.

"Wow. Thank you, I appreciate it."

"I'm telling you this because I have an offer for you. It's up to you if you wanna take it or not, and I think it will help out your future."

"Okay." I said excitedly. "What is it?"

"I know you want to be a teacher once you graduate. So how would you like it if I offered you a preschool job right now?"

"Really?" I asked in shock. "You're kidding right?"

"Nope." She said happily. "I'll email you the details. You can start as early as next week." She smiled, grabbing all of her belongings and heading out the classroom door.

"Alright. Thank you so much." I smiled.

This is the perfect opportunity. It could go on my resume so whoever hires me in the future knows I have experience.

I don't know why and how she gave me this opportunity but imma fasho take it.

As I walked out of class and to my car, I looked down at my phone and got some missed text from Bryson.

My heart literally drops out of my chest. I forgot all about picking Bryson up from the airport. I forgot picking him up and class was the same time.

I blame it on the percs.
