Amity slipped the key into her back pocket, still shaking as her body tried to warm itself again. At least it had stopped raining. She couldn't imagine being wet AND cold at this moment with her having enough on her mind already. She might've caught her death if she'd been drenched.
Slowly but surely, she made her way back to the pink palace, not a sign in sight. She didn't have the wildest imagination, so she was sure she hadn't made them up - not to mention, at 16 years old, she was far too old to go on imaginary adventures like this. Her hand traced the bulge in her pocket where the key was located - it was real, and still there. Nothing made sense anymore.
She walked for a while, back to the well she'd met Luz at, but of course the bubbly girl wasn't here either. Amity sighed, sliding down the side of the well and landing with a soft thump on the ground. All she wanted was to go home.
She pulled a worn photograph from her raincoat's chest pocket. The photo was of her, surrounded by Boscha, Skara, Emilia and her siblings. It was taken a day after her 16th birthday - they'd thrown her a surprise party, as she'd only gotten a card and a useless little present from her parents. Though it was only a few months in the past, it felt like centuries ago she'd been this happy...
A tear ran down her cheek, hanging sadly onto her chin - like she was hanging onto this memory in order to not break down. "I miss you guys..." She sighed, pressing the photo firmly to her chest.
"Amity?"
Amity jumped, head snapping to the direction the voice had come from. "Luz?" She gasped when she spotted the strangely hunched posture of a girl in a mask, her brown hair poking out at the top. Blood rushed to her cheeks, turning her a bright shade of red as she quickly wiped away the few tears still left on her face. Luz pushed her mask up as King crawled his way out of her jacket, her expression concerned and slightly confused.
Luz let her bike fall to the ground and rushed to Amity, stopping mere inches from her face. "Hey, are you okay, Dulzura?" They were nearly nose-to-nose now - god, what did this girl have against personal space?
Amity's lip trembled. Luz grabbed her face in a hug-like manner, pressing her forehead against Amity's. Amity blushed even harder, tears welling in her eyes as her hands slowly but surely went towards Luz's own face.
