Chapter 1| Safe Place

Kenma's Pov

Waves are crashing against the shore. The smell of the salty water fills the air. The sand in my feet as the beach is my happy place. I'm safe at the beach it's calm and peaceful. The waves I'm thinking about is blocking out the sound of the yelling and screaming. My father has gotten drunk again and my mom finally called him out.

What good does that do me? Whenever there home it's just yelling nothing else. My parents go on business trips together they go together in high school. When they both graduated college both of them became entrepreneurs running the same business. Nothing was new but, as they grew older things got stressful and they fell out of love. I don't know why there still together but, when my mom got pregnant with me that's when things went downhill.

I have the urge to call Kuro my only friend that knows about this stuff. I told him while he was at his family dinner things would be okay...I would be ok but once again I lied. I didn't expect my parents to be home so early in the week.

Thud

He's coming up stairs I can hear my fathers giant foot steps slowly coming upstairs to my room.

"Don't go! The boy has done nothing to you!" My mother cried out to stop my father

"The boy stays alive. That's what he's done to me now shut up!" My father responded to my mother's pleads and cries.

Then everything goes silent like it was all a dream. I feel a chill down my spine and hot tears run down my face. Knees to my chest as I'm sitting in the corner of my bedroom covering my ears for my safety. Suddenly I hear my dad by my door yelling things at me.

Your at the beach Kenma. Nothing can hurt you..you can't hurt yourself. Your okay all of your friends are here. Shoyo, Akaashi, Oikawa, Suga, Yaku and Kuro. Nothing can hurt you.

I repeat this to myself about 10 times to block out the aggressive yelling coming from outside my room.

"Kenma baby I'm sorry," my moms voice was cut short and then followed a shatter.

Then be was back at my door.

"Open the door Kenma. Your little boyfriend Kuroo isn't here to help you now you f*g."

I don't like Kuroo so why is this brought up now?

"Please..Stop." I say loud enough for him to hear.

At this point my "Father" is trying to break down my door.

My friends are now drowning at the beach. The sand is burning them very badly and I hear there cries for help. Why can't I move? Slowly they all pass away. Kuro comes close to me and gently touches my face to tell me he loves me. I love him back. "Why do you have to go?" I asked him. He only responds with "I made a mistake and lost you. I know I'm going to struggle getting you back but, Kitten just know whatever I did I deeply regret it." He walked away.

I wake up in an unknown place. It's quiet no screaming no yelling. Surely it's not my bedroom but, as I look up I see Kuro. He's holding me tightly as were sleeping in his room. What happened? How did I end up here? Is my mom safe...where is my dad?

Either he was awake or I was moving to much because I feel his gentle gaze look down at me.

"Did you just wake up?" He asked while yawning.

"Yes I did. Why am I at your house?"

"You don't remember?"

"Remember what?"

"I guess you wouldn't remember... I found you while you were sleeping. To cut it short you'll be staying at my house for awhile okay?" He smiled at me as I nodded my head in agreement.

"But Kuro i don't have any clothes with me."

"You do and you also have my clothes. I took some of your school clothes and some shirts while I took you to my house last night. Try to go back to sleep it's still early."

I look at the clock to see the time 2:45 AM. I look back up at Kuro who was already sleeping again. My eyes start to get heavy as I feel him pull me in closer and tighter. Thank you Kuro. I'll never forget.
