More Than 50 Years Ago, On Ark:
Gerald Robotnik was sitting at his desk, trying not to be depressed. His only granddaughter, Maria, was just diagnosed with Neuro-Immune Deficiency Syndrome; it was an intended medical classification for illnesses or disorders that are actually caused by a complex neuro-immune, complex viral, autoimmune-like illness affecting cognitive, and body functions in people. And so far, there was no cure. (I mean, this is like in the 1980's or so. So, there wouldn't be a cure at that time.)
Especially since him and his team were up in space. They were working on a project to help the world and all living things. Just then, he heard the door creak open. He turned and saw his little blonde, 6 year-old granddaughter, standing there with some papers in her hand.
"Hello Grandfather!" she greeted him. The scientist smiled and walked over to her.
"Hello there, Maria! What do you have there?" he asked, as he kneeled down to Maria's level.
"I made drawings of the animals I want to see when I go to Earth!" Maria replied, as she showed him drawings of a fish, a tiger, a bird, and a butterfly.
Robotnik smiled even more.
"They are wonderful, dear!" he complimented her.
"Grandfather, will I ever go and see Earth?" Maria asked with her sweet voice. The doctor sighed, hugging her in his arms.
"Someday, you will, Maria. When I find a cure for you, I will take you back to Earth and show you the most beautiful places." he said. Maria hugged back. "I know you can't go to Earth right now, but I won't stop looking for a cure."
"Thank you, Grandfather!" she thanked him. Maria then went back to her room and looked out the window to see the breathtaking view of Earth.
