Most people know Nejire Hado as an extrovert, she is usually cheerful and full of energy. She had no problem getting in people's personal space and usually brought happiness wherever she was, but she has a secret. Everyone has secrets, so it's only natural that she would have one as well. This secret however, was closely guarded by her, no one but her knew about this secret, not even Mirio and Tamaki. So, let's delve into this closely guarded secret of hers.

Back in middle school, Nejire was pretty happy, she was the most popular girl in her school and was kind to everyone. Everything was going fine, until her parents got a divorce. It had mostly hit her father the hardest, she really admired her father an really looked up to him.

He had been getting depressed over the weeks, and her mother had left both of them, so that left Nejire with her father. He had starting drinking and doing drugs. The drug dealer that sold him drugs would come to his house to do business, and usually, Nejire's father would tell her to stay in her room when he came. But during another one of their deals, Nejire had gotten curious and came downstairs.

She tried to be quiet, but she ended up making noise and the drug dealer noticed her. Afraid she would get in trouble by her father, she ran back upstairs and closed the door. Everything was fine after that, until the next time the dealer came back. After talking with the dealer, Nejire's dad went to her room and told her he would be right back.

He had a bag in his hand, and she was pretty sure that it was drugs. So he left, but strangely, the dealer didn't leave, she had texted her father and asked why he was still there, and he texted her back saying that it was unnecessary since he would be back soon. Still though, Nejire didn't feel safe being alone with a stranger in her house, so she stayed in her room.

After a while, she heard footsteps coming up the stairs and her door opened. When the door opened, a chubby man in a black hood came into her room. Before she could do anything he stuck his hand out toward her and suddenly she couldn't move, it must've been his quirk. Nejire begged him not to do anything, but he didn't listen nor say anything in response, he only came closer. Once he reached her, he started chuckling maniacally and started to touch and grope her, and she couldn't do a thing to stop him.

By the time it was over, Nejire's shirt and bra was off, and so was her pants. Once he finally left, she was able to move again and just cried in a corner of her room. When her dad came back, she tried to tell him anything but he just said she must've just imagined it. Nejire suspected that her dad knew about the whole ordeal.

She didn't come out of her room for a week after that, still shaken, asked her mom if she could live with her. Nejire promised that she wouldn't be a burden and would even get a job. She half expected her mother to say no since she was the one who left them in the first place. But surprisingly, she said yes, and her dad didn't seem to have any problems with it. If he did, she probably would've called the cops on him, though she didn't have proof of anything.

So that's where she began to stay. She didn't go to school for a few days and had developed androphobia, which is someone having a fear of men. She didn't let anyone know about it though, she was too scared to let anyone know. People would no doubt figure out that something is wrong with her if she became afraid every time she looked at a man.

So she created a shell, a shell only noticeable by her. She'd bombard people with questions about their quirk (since it was the only thing with almost infinite answers) to keep her mind off of the fact that she is afraid of men. So Nejire did just that, and it went unnoticed by everyone she ever came in contact with.

When she went to U.A, she was still the same, she constantly had her shell up, and wouldn't let anyone see her so vulnerable again. She trained her quirk so that she would be able to protect herself in case something like that ever happened again.

Nejire cursed her father and had mentally promised to never see him again. If she did manage to see him again, she didn't know what she would do to him. Luckily, when going to U.A, she had managed to make friends in Mirio and Tamaki and also managed to pick up a genuine interest in quirks, making it easier for her to keep her shell up.

Being friends with Mirio and Tamaki took Nejire awhile to get used to, and they became the first men she weren't afraid of. She was still afraid of men, but it was a step closer to healing her traumatic past.

During the sports festival for the 1st years, she became introduced to Izuku Midoriya, and he became the first person she was infatuated with quirk-wise. When she had gone to visit him after his fight, it had also been the first time she willingly approached a man since the incident. To be honest, she was nervous when she walked towards the infirmary,  She had almost backed out, but there were so many questions she needed answered. She was nervous, but also excited.

Excited to get to know someone who would eventually help her get past her trauma.
