You sat in front of the Casino, eating a small sandwich you had in your bag. "This city isn't all bad. It's actually pretty entertaining." "It sure is." A voice butted in. You jumped, glaring playfully at Peacock, who had just arrived.
She was hanging upside-down from a tree, smirking down at you. "Hey, boomer." You waved, making her look at you in confusion. "Booma'?" You scoffed, "It means outdated. Which you seem to be if you don't know that word." You laughed.
Peacock rolled her eyes, "Anyway, what are ya' doin' here? Dontcha have somewhere to go?" She asked. You became nervous, waving your hands, "U-Um, psh, of course I do- DID! I did. My mom, she uh, kicked me out of the house because I, uuum, stole her magic ring?" Jumbled words fell from your mouth.
The ginger haired girl looked at you with a face that clearly said 'What the actual fuck?'. "Yeeeeeah, okay. But, if ya' don't have anywhere ta' go, I have some place you can stay with me!" Peacock grinned, revealing her sharp teeth and elbowing your arm.
You smiled, "Thanks, Peacock. You know, I like you. You're nice." You told her. Peacock waved a hand, "Aw, shucks. You're makin' me blush." She laughed. You took out a water bottle. "You want the rest of my sandwich?"
She nodded quickly and you handed it to her. She ate it, chewing slowly and sitting next to you. "Hey, Peacock. How old are you?" You asked while drinking your water. "13." You spit out your water.
"Geez, ya' really don't like drinkin' stuff, do ya'?" "You're 13!?" You exclaimed. "Uh, yeah?" You composed yourself and looked at her calmly, grabbing her shoulders, "How in the fucking hell are you 13?" You asked.
"I don't know, ask my dead parents!" She began to laugh. "You're an orphan?" You asked. She nodded, wiping a joyful tear from her 'eye'. "Same. I MEAN- nothing never mind."
"You're bein' seriously looney." "Oh, you're one to talk. You're a walking, talking cartoon." You giggled. Peacock beamed at you, "Haha, very funny. But, what do ya' wanna do today?"
You shrugged and she gasped, her hat cartoonishly springing upward in surprise and revealing a cute bird. You waved to it and it returned the gesture. "We should go and find us some fightin' rings! That would be fun!"
You nodded in agreement, "Yeah, it would be fun to watch." "Dontcha mean 'fun to do'?" Peacock smirked. Your eyes widened and you stood up, "Wait, you mean we're gonna fight!? Are you insane!?" "Yes, very much so. But, I've been in plenty a' fights, I can handle it." She responded proudly, pointing a thumb to her chest.
"Okay, that's not impressive, that concerning." "Oh, what do you care. But, c'mon, let's go!" She grabbed your arm and tossed you in the air, catching you in her elongated arms. You blushed, staring blankly at your hands and holding on tightly to her shawl, "Um, what are you doing?"
You asked her, confused by her stalling. "I got rocket boots, whatcha mean?" "I don't really like heIGHTS!-" you yelped as she bounced into the air and took off.
You both arrived at some fighting arena and Peacock landed on the roof, placing you gently on the ground. You glared at her, annoyed, "Don't ever do that again. I hate flying and I hate heights and I hate air and-" "Oh, hush up. You enjoyed it." Peacock scoffed, a grin on her cocky face.
You sighed, "I did." She grabbed your hand, making you blush a second time. Even if her arms were metal, you felt a surprising warmth in her gloved fingers. "Oh, god. I can't have a crush on this girl. I just met her yesterday. This is so annoyingly cliche." You thought.
Peacock pulled you with her as she led you to a roof exit. She opened it and jumped in, letting you follow behind. "Hurry up! We're gonna miss the good fights." She said, jumping excitedly.
"Just so you know. I'm not fighting." You held up a finger. "Yeah, yeah, now c'mon!" She ushered you forward. "You can have have a front row seat and watch me in action. Okay, toots?" You smiled and nodded nervously, kind of scared for her.
Before she left, you grabbed her arm, noticing all of the eyes on it turn to gaze at you. You gulped, but looked back up at Peacock, "Be careful." You warned.
The girl smiled sadly and leaned forward, kissing your cheek, "I'll try, but I ain't makin' any promises~" she smirked at your red, but shocked face. She rushed away and you held your still warm cheek.
What the heck just happened and why?...
