P2 - Medici Mook

"Hey, Y/N?" A small voice called you. You turned to Avery, who had opened the Lab entrance. "There's someone here....for you?" She said, confused. You made your way over, and gasped, dropping the item in your hand. "Hey, N/N." The person waved, smiling nervously.

"D-Daniel...?" You mumbled. You stared at him for a couple of seconds before, holding up both of your hands and forming fireballs. "Woah, hey, wait!" He tried to calm you down. You growled at him, grabbing his arm and pushing your fire-filled hand to his throat, "Why are you here? Did the Medici send you?"

You asked him in annoyance. He stuttered, "W-What? No, I ran away. I was tired of their constant killing, corrupting, and dirty work. I tried to tell them that they could be better and help the city, but they saw it as betrayal and hunted me down. I had to get away because they were already on edge after you left."

You let him go, giving him a suspicious look. Then, you face softened as you walked up to him, hugging him tightly. "Well, now you can help us get rid of them. Welcome to the Anti-Skullgirl Lab 8!" You said, smiling. You pushed him inside and Avery flew to your shoulder.

"Y/N. Who is this?" You turned to Peacock, who had an upset look on her face. She crossed her arms and you grinned, "This is Daniel. He used to be a loyal pawn for the Medici....like me. But, he decided to join us!" He nodded, a soft smile on his face.

Peacock grumbled, grabbing your arm and pulling you away from Daniel. "What's wrong?" You asked. Peacock looked over at Daniel, "I don't trust 'em. He seems kinda, I dunno, suspicious. Ya' shouldn't have let 'em in 'ere." She said angrily. You scoffed, "Don't be like that, I know him. He was my best friend when we worked together at Medici. We can trust him."

"Exactly! He worked for the Medici! We can't trust 'em!" She whisper-shouted. Your eyes widened, "So, you don't trust me either?" "W-What? No, that's not what I-" "You know what, I'm not gonna fight with you over my decisions. If you don't wanna welcome Daniel with open arms and help him, then maybe you should stay away from him." You glared, walking back over to your friend, smiling.

Peacock stood in shock, looking at you and him walk away. She noticed Daniel turn around, a glint of mischief and hatred in his eyes as he looked at her. She stumbled backward. Her eyes narrowed at him and she growled in irritation, face turning red with anger as steam cartoonishly poured from her ears.

"Someone's jealous~" a voice surprised her. She turned to see Andy with a smile, "No, I'm not. Mind your business, ya' idiot." She said. He smiled, "Jealous." He whispered, making Peacock shout, "Shut your trap!"

"This is the Lab area, where we experiment and help people who have been hurt or injured by the Medici, like this woman." You smiled, waving to Peacock. She waved back, winking at you and you laughed. Daniel glared at Peacock and she smirked, sticking her tongue out while pulling on her eye.

"Downstairs is the backup Lab, just in case our research up here is tampered somehow." You explained. "Do you...know how to get in?" Daniel asked. You scratched your cheek, chuckling anxiously, "Uh, no. But, Peacock, Ben, Hive, and....Valentine do."

You shuddered at the name of the last person, memories of her betrayal and other horrible things coming to your mind. "Why don't you know?" He asked, elbowing you with a smile. You shrugged, humming in confusion, "Everyone else seemed okay with it, but Peacock was afraid I'd hurt myself by accident. So, she won't let me down there."

"That's a shame. It would be cool to see the backup Lab." "Yeah." Daniel held you arm, "So, are you and her, like, a thing?" You put your hands on your hips, "Who? Me and Peacock? Yeah, she's my girlfriend!" You smiled.

"I didn't know you were bisexual/lesbian/pansexual." He said. You nodded, "Now, come on, I'm about to make dinner. There aren't a lot of people in the Lab since the.....incident. But, I guess that makes it easier to cook." You said nervously. He chuckled, putting a hand on your shoulder as he followed you into the kitchen.

"Alright, goodnight." You waved to Daniel. You went into the living room, seeing Peacock with a angry look. You sat next to her and she blushed, looking embarrassed. "Hey." You gently grabbed her hand and she squeezed it.

"You know, you can tell me what's up. I've noticed you've seemed a little down since Daniel showed up. And that's not you. You're always energetic, annoyingly playful, and happy. What's wrong?" You explained.

She didn't answer you and you smiled, grabbing her chin and making her look at you, "Tell me." You said, grabbing hold of her other hand and intertwining both of your hands together. Peacock sighed, "Ever since he came along, I've felt weird. It seems like ya' love him in a special way, more than ya' love me. And it makes me feel...."

"You're jealous?" You smirked. She turned red and let gi of your hands, hugging herself. "You are! That is adorable!" You laughed. "You actually think I'd fall for my best friend?" You asked.

"But, it happened with me." She said sadly. You also blushed, "Well, you had something special that made me fall for you and only you. Multiple things actually. Your spunky attitude. You beautiful hair. Your eyes. Your kindness. Your accent." You booped her nose when you said the last reason, giggling.

Peacock grinned. "And yes we've had some bumps in the road, but we fixed it, didn't we?" Peacock gave you a smug look, "Yeah, after a night of you moanin'~" you turned red, slapping her shoulder, "That's not the point!" You said.

"The point is, I care for you and Daniel, but our relationship is special. Me and him are just friends. I love you." You pointed a finger to her chest. She smiled softly, grabbing your hand and hugging you. "I love ya' too." She repeated, making you grin. She pulled away from the hug and kissed you.

From afar, a fuming Daniel could be seen in the dark hallway connecting the living room to the Lab. He walked away, pulling out a small communicator, "This is Daniel, calling you from the interior of Lab 8. I have eyes on the target, but she is not alone, I repeat, she is not alone. Prepare the tranquilizers."

And with that, he vanished into his room...
