Alex's P.O.V.

"How was school, Alexis?" My mum asked as I walked through the front door.

"You know I hate it when you call me that. It was good." I lied. Of course I'm not going to tell her how my day really went, 'oh hi mum, today just went like every other day, the usual being bullied and shoved around and being called names and having things thrown at me' I mimicked myself in my head.

"Sorry, Alex. Did you make any new friends?" She asked putting emphasis on my name whilst washing the dishes.

"No." I replied automatically but then I corrected myself. "Actually yes I did. A guy called Calum who's in the same year as me and he seems really nice."

"Ooh that's nice! Is he new too?" She said sweetly. Too sweetly actually, I think she might have gotten the wrong idea of what I think of him.

"No he's not. He's always lived here but while he went on holiday and he's just back now so that's why I've never seen him." I quickly told her. I didn't want to get into anymore detail about the day or about Calum so I rushed up the stairs before she could say anything else.

I walked over to my window and tested my elbows on the window ledge while my hands cupped my face. I kneeled on the ground watching the world - I had nothing better to do. I looked at the street and saw someone walking along. At first I thought I must've been seeing things but it was Calum. He didn't live around here so why was he here? Did he follow me home? Just when I thought he was going to walk into my driveway he walked a bit further and turned into next door's. I opened my window slightly to see if I could hear any voices. I heard him knock and a boy, I think he's called Ashton, stepped outside to greet him before inviting him inside.

I'd seen Ashton a few times at school before, he's in my biology class. We sit at the same table but I've never spoken to him before. I don't speak to anyone because they usually just give me a weird look or tell me to piss off or something. That's why I was so surprised when Calum was being nice to me. I thought he was just joking around or something until he walked me to class.

I heard my mum yell at me from downstairs that dinner was ready so I ran down and grabbed my bowl. She made homemade pizza, my favourite. In our old house we used to sit at the table to eat but since we've moved here we just take out plates into the living room and sit on the couch to watch tv while we're eating. It's a lot easier.

As I walked into the living room I glanced out of the window and caught Calum's eye. He must've just left Ashton's house. I felt awkward at the fact he was looking at me so the first thing that came to my mind was to wave. I cringed at how awkward I was being but he smiled and waved back before he disappeared around the corner.

"Who were you waving to?" My mum asked, startling me.

"Oh I just saw Calum walking past so I waved." I told her, for some reason I started blushing slightly and I think she noticed because I could see her fighting back a smile.

"Oh so that's Calum. He looks very nice. I like the highlights in his hair. You should invite him round for dinner sometime. My mum said, giving in to her smile which quickly spread across her face.

"Mum! I've only spoken to him once! It's not like we're best friends or something." I yelled at her. My mum gave me a harsh look for telling and I quietly sat down on the sofa and ate my pizza.

Once I was done with my food I put my plate in the sink and went back upstairs. I got changed into my pyjamas because I was really bored. As I was getting changed I caught sight of myself in the mirror. I'd forgotten that Michael had shoved me earlier and there was a massive bruise left where he had done it. You could almost see that it was in the shape of a hand. It hurt to touch. If I was going to be wearing any low cut tops them I'd have to cover it up with makeup but I don't really wear stuff like that anyway.
