Alex's P.O.V.
"Don't think that I'll actually be doing any of this projects shit." Michael told me as we walked out the classroom. I didn't want to stand up to him and I didn't want to work with him but I also didn't want to do it alone.
Maybe it would be a good idea to turn around and ask the teacher if I can swap partners.
"Are you even listening to me you little bitch? Do you want me to make you remember?" He asked me with a wide smile growing on his face as he raised his hand in the air. I was too scared to even move. He started bringing his hand down and just before it hit my face he stopped.
"Get the fuck off of her." I heard Calum say. I opened my eyes and saw that he had grabbed Michael's wrist, stopping him from hitting me. He's the only person I've ever seen stand up to Michael.
"Oh yeah? And what are you gonna do about it if I don't?" Michael replied, yanking his hand free from Calum's grip and trying to look as though he was looking down on him even though they were the same height.
"Come on Alex. Just ignore this idiot." Calum told me as he walked away with one hand on my back to guide me away from them.
I was really confused. Why didn't Michael do anything to Calum? He didn't chase after us or anything. I was still shaking from what had just happened and I guess Calum could feel it.
"Are you okay? Do you want me to take you home?" He asked me as we stopped at the school doors. Just as I was about to decline his offer I heard a voice shouting my name which made me turn to see who it was.
"Oh hey," Ashton started as he ran down the hall towards us, "are you okay? You look like you've just seen a ghost."
"Yeah I'm fine. Calum helped me out." I told him. I didn't want to lie but I also didn't want to tell him the whole truth.
"She was actually just about to get a lift with me so you don't need to worry." Calum said to Ashton. He seemed to use quite a harsh tone even though Ashton was only trying to help. Calum looked at me and gave me a quick smile before walking further down the corridor with Ashton. They seemed to be discussing something but they were purposely being quiet so that I couldn't hear what they were saying.
"Come on, I'll show you to my car." Calum said to me walking back towards me.

It was a really awkward car journey home. It was only 10 minutes but we didn't speak at all.
"Thanks by the way. For helping me out back there. And for the lift home." I told Calum awkwardly as he stopped outside my house. I was really curious to know what he and Ashton were talking about earlier but I didn't want to seem rude or nosey. As though he was reading my mind he practically answered for me.
"Look, I know I'm no one to say anything like this to you but it's probably best not to get too close to Ashton. He might seem really nice but don't trust him too much." Calum told furrowing his eyebrows. That really confused me. I thought they were friends. And Calum knows that no one likes me so why would he try to stop me from being friends with him?
"I thought you liked Ashton." I said confused. He went to his house yesterday and they seemed fine with each other then.
"I do. But you don't know him. I've known him for a long time and I know want he's like." Calum replied. He started looking a bit frustrated now but not at me, at himself. I think he regretted saying that.
I started getting angry too. I wasn't just going to start ignoring Ashton just because Calum didn't want me speaking to him. Maybe if he gave me a better reason, but I knew he wouldn't. Before Calum could say anything else I got out the car and walked into my house. I looked back as I was shutting the door and Calum had his head in his hands. He hit the steering wheel with frustration and speeded off around the corner.

I get my pyjamas on because I'm stating to get tired now. I flick through the channels on my TV on my room but I can't concentrate. My minds too full of questions that I want answered. Why does Calum seem to care so much? Why did he stand up for me? Why didn't Michael try to beat him up? Why aren't I allowed to trust Ashton?
I end up turning my TV off and just lying on my bed thinking of the day. I wish I hadn't have started thinking of the day because then I remembered about the project. The project that I had to do with Michael.
