"and then to his left is his dearest girlfriend, soojin."

although nayeon's face hadn't changed from introducing jaemin, her voice had. instead of the regular sweet one, it once was, it was now a rather mocking snarky voice.

jiyoung's eyes drifted to the platinum blonde who stared deeply into her eyes with a scowl.

damn, i didn't even do anything.

she tore her eyes away from soojin, what she assumed to be a possessive girlfriend, and turned to nayeon- only to see jeno giving her a stern look laced with disappointment as nayeon smiled innocently.

they're cute.

she turned away from two when she felt a hand grab her arm. turning back she was met with donghyuck's face looking at her eagerly.

"can i have the rest of your rice, please?"

she nodded and picked the small metal bowl up and handed it over to the boy, once again feeling his hand on her skin.

"your hands are really soft," she said aloud without thinking, immediately regretting it.

donghyuck smiled sweetly and held them up partially to where she could feel them, "i know, right? my mom says it's because my dad i practice so much so the fire somehow affected us. my dad's hands are even softer and my mom never stops talking about it."

jiyoung giggled at his small story, "your family sounds nice. do you have any siblings?"

"nope. just mom, dad, and then me. they think of these idiots as their own, though. they're always coming over and making messes." he laughed.

"no, we don't," renjun retorted from the other side of the table, "you always end up getting too rowdy and spill something on the carpets."

"whatever," donghyuck hushed him, "i think they'd like you too, jiyoung. my dad would probably go crazy over your clothes. he loves fashion and stuff like that. especially bucket hats, for some reason."

"i'd love to meet all of your parents. from the way you all act, i'd assume they're all pretty great." she smiled at him.

she had previously taken his hand to feel it when renjun had begun to talk and she got distracted, unconsciously slowly tracing her finger across the lines on his hand.

neither of them really minded it or even realized it, continuing to talk with everyone as if they weren't practically holding hands at the moment.

minutes had passed and it was finally time to return to their classrooms. jiyoung definitely had a good time with the new people she already considered friends- or at least some of them.

she bid goodbye to all of the boys and soojin- only getting another glare from her- and walked away with nayeon to get to class.

"so soojin is a bit..." jiyoung couldn't find the right words to finish her thought but nayeon had already agreed.

"yeah, i know. none of us like her but jaemin won't listen to us every time we tell him about the things she's done. so now he's just in a dull relationship with a girl who thinks everyone's out to steal jaemin from under her arms."

they finally made it to their classroom, jiyoung letting nayeon walk in first and following her to their seats. "is she that bad?"

nayeon nodded as if she had a headache that just wouldn't go away, "she doesn't even really like jaemin. she's been in love with donghyuck since they were kids and he always turned her down so instead, she ran to jaemin. now she just uses his money to get everything she wants."

jiyoung's eyes went wide, "she's in love with donghyuck?"

nayeon's lips formed a straight line and she nodded, "yep. i think for nearly ten years now. he says she's crazy and tried to stalk him as well. i guess that's why she was scowling at you during lunch today."

"wait, what? she was mad at me because she used to stalk him?"

nayeon laughed quietly after realizing she worded her sentences a bit weirdly.

"no, no. i mean you and donghyuck were getting really close at lunch today. honestly, she was probably plotting your death or something."

jiyoung was slightly worried by nayeon's last sentence but pushed it aside like it was a joke, "why would she be threaded by me of all people? i'm probably the least dangerous person in this school."

"not sure. probably cause you were both literally flirting in front of everyone but i mean-"

"woah, woah, woah. flirting?" jiyoung stopped her hastily, "we were just becoming friends with one another."

nayeon looked at the younger girl with skeptical eyes. she did not believe a word.

"really? weren't you guys literally holding hands at some point?"

"he has really soft hands!" jiyoung said frantically, her body tensing up at the mention of the small action taking place earlier.

"i don't know. you both seemed pretty into each other if i do say so myself." nayeon laughed.

jiyoung let out a sarcastic, dry laugh, "yes, you do say so yourself. literally, no one else is saying this."

nayeon looked at the girl with an amused smile and stopped talking for a second before finally speaking back up. "i can tell we are going to be very, very good friends."

jiyoung poked her tongue into her right cheek to try and hide her smile as she turned away from nayeon and back to the front of the classroom.

she was not flirting with lee donghyuck.
