"i missed you so much!" jaemin said dramatically, wiping fake tears from under his eyes as he reached forward and hugged jiyoung tightly.

she laughed at him, ruffling his hair affectionately. "we just got off the phone."

"that was so long ago," he sighed, dragging out his last few words. they ended up getting a bit slurred, making it hard for jiyoung to completely understand but she got the gist.

the couple had come together at a nearby coffee shop after school to do some more studying together. jiyoung got out earlier than jaemin, his teacher making him stay behind to clear up some things on one of his assignments he had mentioned having trouble with.

the two walked inside and got their drinks, afterward finding a corner space to sit together and work quietly without having to worry about anyone around them.

"alright, so what's up on this week's agenda?"

"some biology review from freshman year." he sighed deeply, unhappy with the subject.

jiyoung laughed, "that bad?"

he nodded, "i don't remember a thing."

"i guess it's a good thing we're reviewing it, isn't it then?" she asked, grabbing his packet and workbook.

she scanned over the questions at hand and began explaining to jaemin, going slowly to make sure he understood and could process everything.

he was very smart, in actuality. his problem with school was that jaemin needed more than five minutes to fully process information if he were expected to remember it.

school was only about giving kids information and then making them regurgitate it for tests and exams and expecting them to beat their peers.

jiyoung was somewhat good at explaining and answering each of jaemin's questions, going into enough detail that it made it easy for him to understand what she was talking about.

jaemin, of course, greatly appreciated this.

"alright so, question one. refer to the illustration above, the shape represented by organism c applies to the bacterial genus, blank. streptococcus, leptospira, bacillus, or penicillium?"

jaemins eyes examined the provided picture of three organisms and took a moment as he thought before finally coming to an answer, "leptospira."

jiyoung nodded, "great, now question two. refer to the illustration above, the shape represented by organism a is a what? coccus, spirillum, bacillus, or filamentous?"

"coccus."

"what a natural." jiyoung smiled kindly, patting his head in a loving matter.

jaemin playfully rolled his eyes, waiting patiently for the next question so he could get the review over with.

"okay, what is it called when two prokaryotes attach in order to exchange genetic information through a sex pilus?"

"conjugation."

"correct."

and so they continued on for the next- what felt like- 50 questions on the assignment. by the end of it, they were both pretty tired of reading words involving biology or anything science-related.

"i'm tired, let's go to my house." jaemin declared, standing up and yawning.

jiyoung looked at him, amused, "you just say when you're done with school work and then decide to go take a nap?"

he nodded, "you don't?"

"not until i've finished everything that needs to get done," she shrugged.

"well, one day out of the routine won't hurt. come on, renjun won't mind you coming over." he motioned, outstretching a hand for her to grab.

"yeah, i know. he's told me multiple times that i might as well just move in." she laughed.

the two drove their separate cars to the big house, exiting their vehicles and getting rained on as they made their ways inside and to jaemin's bedroom.

there, they laid down on the large bed, ready for their well-deserved sleep.

jaemin laid flat on his bed, staring up at the roof as jiyoung hugged his waist, head on his chest. the room was quiet besides the sound of rain droplets hitting the glass windows.

for a moment, jiyoung looked up, realizing jaemin had finally fallen asleep. she looked at his peaceful face, grateful that the two could finally become friends and then later a couple.

she slowly moved up a bit until once again comfortable and laid down beside the boy, both of them breathing softly.

her hand outstretched forward until it met his still platinum blond hair, her fingers playing in his soft messy strands.

she continued slowly playing with his hair and watching him sleep peacefully for a few seconds before leaning in and kissing his cheek, "you know, i'm really glad i met you, jaemin."
