"ong jiyoung! in here, now!"

the small girl, presumably around the age of six or so, sprouted from the living room and walked over to the solid white door she never opened.

"inside." her father's voice reigned.

she followed his instructions cautiously, walking inside.

her eyes went from left to right, looking from the multiple test tubes to the wires connected here and there, to the solid metal tables covered with white cloths, and to the blood samples lined up one after another.

she made her way to the back of the room where she saw her father standing with a white, long coat and glasses perched on his nose as if it made him seem any more intelligent.

"chair," he said plainly.

the little girl nodded obediently, going to sit in the chair she somehow knew all too well. her body trembled from within as coarse sweat threatened to seep from her skin.

no, she couldn't show how scared she was.

she didn't know how she knew what to do with everything he was telling her but she did. it was like there was a blank space in her head but as soon as he said something recognizable, she understood.

her body was too small to easily get in the chair, making it so she had to partially jump. her feet dangled under the dark wooden chair, waiting to leave the room.

the tall man approached her, performing his work with no words spoken.

first, he had taken her temperature. twice. once using a thermometer that went in the mouth and the second time using one that slid across the forehead. each time her temperature came back normal.

then she would be weighed on a scale. doing so, he saw she was the perfect weight for her age. he nodded, satisfied, as he wrote down everything.

she returned back to the chair where her blood would then be drawn. not a lot, or at least not enough for her to pass out from.

"straps," he spoke with roughness in the back of his throat as if seeing the little girl made him nauseated.

she slid out of the chair and onto a table that reminded her of a seesaw. here, she was to stand against plates at the end of the table and wait for her father to come tie down her arms.

she nervously watched as he got closer and placed his clipboard down to tighten everything. after finishing, he pulled over a cart with a strange liquid.

she wanted to squirm out of the restraints and make a run for the door. try her best to escape the madness she was subjected to so many times already.

she wanted out.

but she knew she couldn't go anywhere. she had no friends, no family, she knew of no one around their block. all she had was the knowledge of a child. she had absolutely nowhere to go and escape.

so instead, she would have to put up with this. she would have to go through the pain and torture in her own home and wait it out until she was finally able to run away and stay far from the man she called father.

the said man connected a needle to the end of the tube and watched as the liquid began swirling back and forth. so far, so good.

he made sure to clean the same spot on jiyoung's arm that he usually used and injected the shot into her arm.

it felt awful.

it felt like it was coating her body from the inside out as if small bugs were climbing all over her. in the back of her throat, there was a feeling of constant saliva or something that made her want to spit up, although she knew nothing would come out.

it was just her imagination. there was nothing there.

minutes passed as the man watched the liquid illuminate her body. once content with everything, he took it out. a minute or two after letting her take deep breaths, he released her from the straps and told her to stand.

forward, he made her perform "tests," as he called them. they were all physical tests, no questions and answers for her raging mental health or spiritual well-being. he didn't care about that stuff.

after feeling the day's job done, he made her take a pill. the pill only took seconds to take action, and before she knew it she was out cold on the floor.

a loud gasp released from jiyoung's mouth as she propelled her body up. she wanted to leave. she wanted to get out of the house.

those pills, whatever they were, had made her forget every memory of what her father did to her. but now she could remember.

she could remember everything.

her feet scurried to the floor as she quickly picked up her essential items and opened the bedroom door at a quick pace with the most amount of silence possible.

but once she made it to the kitchen, she felt her world crashing down.

"going somewhere?"

all my life, I've been on my own
waiting for the one
to call my home, oh but
the front door was stuck shut
and now I pitter-patter back and forth
think my mind thinks it's run its course
it's tired, now it needs to settle down

problems, deathbyromy
