I was smelling bacon when I opened my eyes to find that I was still on my couch with Drew and Sawyer. The wall was blocking my view of the kitchen, but there was someone in there. I wiggled my way out from between my two human pillows and went to investigate.
"Morning." Aaron said as he saluted me with the spatula.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Making you guys breakfast, Emily went to the hospital to hang out with Blake so I came to check on you." He said.
"Do I smell bacon?" Sawyer mumbled as she shuffled into the kitchen.
"Why don't you open your eyes and find out." Aaron said.
"Is food ready?" Drew asked, "I'm starving."
"Yeah it's ready." Aaron answered and handed me a plate piled with scrambled eggs, bacon, and hash browns.
Aaron served Sawyer and Drew plates before grabbing his own and joining us at the dining room table.
"How are you feeling?" Aaron finally asked.
"I'm ok, just sad." I told him and he reached over to squeeze my hand.
We finished eating; Drew was loading the dishwasher, when the door flew open slamming into the wall. Denver stood in the doorway, fists clenched at his sides.
"What is your problem Drew?" he asked.
"I was about to ask you the same thing." Drew answered.
"You're my problem. You let Diamond go with you and then you can't even keep her safe? What's wrong with you?" Denver said pointing his finger in Drew's face.
"She wanted to come with us and we left her with Sydney where she was supposed to be safe." Drew said.
"Good job on making sure she was safe." Denver said.
"You know two people are dead, Diamond is at the hospital, maybe you should think about that." Drew said.
"That doctor they brought with them, Scott, he has no clue if she'll survive that bite. He thinks she's probably infected so she's as good as dead anyway. I guess that part doesn't matter to you since it just makes it easy for you to be with your new shiny toy." Denver said and turned to storm back out of the room. Drew grabbed his arm and turned him back around.
"You weren't there Denny. You have no idea what happened." Drew told him.
"I know that because of you the girl I love is in the hospital, bit and most likely infected." Denver said, "Of course you did make sure that your toy was safe and harm free."
Denver pulled his arm free and walked out of the room before Drew could say anything else to him. Drew stared at where Denver had been.
"He's right." Drew said.
"What?" Aaron asked already stepping between Drew and me.
"Diamond shouldn't have been there; I should have stayed and kept her safe instead of worrying so much about Ashlyn." Drew said.
"Gee, thanks." I said.
"That's not what I meant." Drew said reaching out to me, but Aaron slapped his hand back down.
"What did you mean then?" Aaron asked.
"Ashlyn has experience out there and she has you to have her back, who did Diamond have? We left her and Sydney alone and look how it turned out." Drew said, "Denny is right that I wasn't worried about Diamond. I didn't even think that she could end up in danger."
