I opened my eyes and was staring up at a white ceiling. My first thought was I was back with the twins and we had never really escaped, I had dreamed everything. The pain in my side reminded what had happened. When I looked around more I found Drew asleep in a chair pulled close to my bed. The door opened and I glanced up to see Aaron followed by Emily and Sawyer sneaking in.
"She's awake.' Sawyer said.
"Shhh, if they hear us they'll kick us out." Aaron said.
"Who?" I asked.
"Scott and his army of nurses." Sawyer said, "They haven't let us in here since you got out of surgery."
"Well that answers the "what army" question." I said, "How long have I been out?"
"A day." Aaron answered, "Scott was never worried about you waking up, your vitals stayed good."
"Morning everyone." Drew said, "Didn't Scott say we couldn't all be in here at once?"
"He suggested that we shouldn't." Emily said, "Plus he's not here right now."
"You sure about that?" Scott asked form the doorway, "What are you all doing in here?"
"We wanted to see Ashlyn and see if she was awake." Sawyer said, "It was Aaron's idea."
"Did you just sell me out?" Aaron asked.
"I don't know what's going on, I woke up and the room was full." Drew said as he handed me a glass of water with a straw in it.
Scott let everyone say bye to me before he flocked them out. He came back smiling.
"You have quite the group of friends." He said, "Let's take a look at how you're doing."
Scott checked the new bandages that were taped to my side.
"How are you feeling?" He asked.
"Little pain when I move but other than that, fine." I said, "It's hard to believe I was in so much pain when we came in."
"That's good to hear." Scott said, "I think I'm going to move you into a room where everyone can come and go as they please."
"It seems they forced your hand in that Doc, did you really think they would stay away?" Drew asked.
"No I knew I would find them in here as soon as my army of nurses wasn't present." Scott said.
"So you heard that?" I asked.
"Yeah makes me have hope that we'll figure out what's going on and reverse it." Scott said, "We have crazed that signed consent forms, I've been running tests on their blood verses Hunter's and Hannah's."
"Anything interesting yet?" I asked.
"I've found a few differences but not sure what's causing them yet, Aaron just signed a form to let me run his too." He said.
"Why do you need his?" I asked.
"I wanted to run blood of someone who hasn't been bit at all and he volunteered." He said, "Once I start looking at all four next to each other I think I may be able to start figuring out what's going on."
"Four?" I asked.
"Yeah got the Red Eyes, the crazed, bit and not turned, and not bit samples." Scott said.
"How long will it take to figure out?" Drew asked.
"I don't know, it depends how complex the puzzle is and right now I don't have anywhere near all the pieces." Scott said, "You shouldn't worry about that at all right now, you just focus on getting back on your feet and the nurses will be coming in soon to get you moved to your new room."
