A Future in Fall

Is it autumn already?

Damn, and I thought time couldn't go anymore faster.

"Hey, Sky, can you hang this over there?"

"Sure, sure."

I grabbed the wiped-clean picture frame from green-patched paws, only to hook the ropes behind it onto a protruding nail half-hammered in the green pastel walls. Taking a glimpse of the picture, it was just one of many old images, ones that reminded me of past memories.

"Hey, do you remember this?" I looked over to Noah, grabbing his attention while I observed, "Isn't that our graduation photo? I thought I threw it away already..."

"Goodness, it wasn't just you that received the mail, dummy."

"Hm... I can ju---"

"Don't you dare. Put it up there, now."

"Fine..."

Chill, Noah, chill.

Anyway, I decided to put a pause with typing down the book, and start moving in the clunky furniture (What happens when you live with an old-brain like him) and miscellaneous items into the new semi-detached house we bought. Speaking of which, the last apartment block was one hell to begin with. Thank goodness Noah came, or I might actually go insane in that hell hole.

"How's Zain by the way?" Noah suddenly asked.

"Stuck in the lab, as always," I answered as another random, but nostalgic picture frame went up the wall, "We should see him soon, don't you think?"

"Wow, never knew you to be so considerate about another's being." Noah said (heartbreakingly) sarcastic as he carried some more boxes into the echoey, empty room.

"Why do you say that!?" I soft-punched the wolf in the guts, making him said aloud an 'oof', and leaving me with a satisfied grin, "Hah! You're already rusty, you can't even dodge this anymore."

"At least I got some counter moves under here," Almost a split second after my joyous emotion though, I was poked deep from the left side of my abdomen (if you don't know, it's sensitive. Ask someone to do it for you!), making me trip from my feet, and tumble over stacked books.

Anyhow, we both decided to laugh it off, and went on with our work, where seconds went to minutes, minutes to hours... until the mid-afternoon sun was shining through the orangey-yellow trees of the suburban residences. By then, I was exhausted and covered in weirdo particles from all the dust-cleaning. Thankfully, the couch had finally arrived a few ten minutes ago, and both of us managed to adjust the seating to a desired spot near the rectangular front window, where from one side are the seatings, and the other the television.

"Here, drink something," the brown wolf suddenly came from the doorless kitchen area along with two glass cups on each hand.

"Thank you."

I drank needfully, my drying lips hydrating from the colorless liquid. While that, Noah sat scrolling through his phone near my right side.

"Have you heard from Nick since... you know?" I asked suddenly, not even sure myself now of why I asked that question.

"Not really. Last I heard though, he's around the country after some Furopeaon contract." Noah said, unfazed from his sliding finger.

"Say, it's Halloween soon right?"

"Yes, I believe so. Why?"

"Do you want to have a gathering or something?" I suggested, making the distracted wolf to suddenly look at me with a questioning face, "you know... just to catch up a bit?"
