its the truth.. i think

kenzie.

i hear the door locks unhinge themselves with the control of the three girls on the other side of the door. and the small crack open with their eyes peeking out.

"let me in" i say angrily.

"okay, but first, you need to promise not to yell at us ,, this is vacation after all" liv says.

"fine, let. me. in." i say shakily.

me and eben walk inside the hotel room and see the girls all out on the porch watching the sunrise, the girls were out all night after all.

"girls, i need to speak to you" i say walking out.

"just a few minutes, look at the sunrise aunt kenzie, we've always wanted to watch it down here" liv says patting down a space on the blanket next to her.

i sit down watching the sunrise almost forgetting the whole night completely, just happy to be back with the girls.

"ladies, we need to talk please" i say turning toward them.

"fine, hit us with the questions" kiara says.

"liv, after you found out, why didn't you call me? i should've known that is was zach harden earlier, i shouldn't have had to have found out from some random police officer. what happened to you girls was serious, okay? you need to communicate i can't be over here with two missing children because zach got out of jail, okay we shouldn't have had to stay out all night to look for you two if i was a responsible adult, but in order for that i need you guys to talk to me" i say, tears filling up my eyes.

"kenzie we're fine, he didn't hurt us, he just gave us something" olivia says.

"what?"
"what?"

me and liv say in unison.

"he told us to show it to liv he said it was the truth" kiara said.

"but we have to show it to you before we leave but he didn't tell us why" olivia added talking to liv.

"it's a tape?" liv asked.

"yeah, he didn't let us see what was on it, maybe it's for your eyes only?" olivia says.

"yeah uh.. i'll watch it can you guys stay here or go in the bathroom till i'm done?" she asks.

"yeah" we all say getting up, eben included.

liv.

i went inside to the old television the hotel provides and slipped the tape inside. uneasy and unprepared for whatever is on this tape.

there was no way i could prepare for what i saw, i thought i've seen it all before. but i wasn't expecting this, not even close.

i don't know how to feel i don't know what to say, or if i'll even tell the girls. harden.. zach harden thought this was the way of telling me he's sorry.

he kidnapped my friends, and said he almost killed a man then shows me this.

so i did what i needed to, i called him.

"hello liv" he says.

"why did you do this?" i ask teary eyed.

"well i simply just wanted you to know the truth." he says straight.

"so this is how you let me find out? like this? anyway but this way would've been better zach. now what am i supposed to do huh? a-am i just supposed to erase the memories you gave olivia and kiara out of their heads? how am i supposed to unsee what happened to that man?" i say, tears running down my face.

"he tried to kill you liv, someone had to do something. i hope you find the best happiness with daniel, good luck" he says.

hangs up.

if he didn't do it, and the tape i was shown wasn't real, who the hell was that?

i turn the television off and eject the tape and put it somewhere the girls won't find it.

"you guys can come in now, i watched it" i say wiping my tears and checking my appearance in my phone.

"you okay, you gonna let us watch it ?" olivia asks me.

"no no way, that was definitely just for me to watch, no one else" i say shaking a little bit.

"what was it?" kiara asks.

"what he said, the truth."
