we walk down the stairs, considering it was the next day and daniel should get home. i walked him out, gave him a hug, hoping to have a night like last night again. it was perfect.
no liv, stop, remember what you said. you leave for florida in 2 months, no attachment, no boyfriends, no fling. you need to focus.
"hey girl, you okay ?" olivia asks.
"yeah, i'll be fine just a lot on my mind" i say.
"gotcha, well i can tell you don't wanna talk about it, so how about we get kiara, johnny, and zach over here and have a movie night, what do you say?" olivia asks.
"while that sounds amazing, i have work in an hour and i have to be there early to open the pool, maybe you guys can come swim today. keep me company" i smile.
"i'll tell them to bring their bathing suits." she smiles back at me.
i go and get ready for work, i put on my lifeguard bikini with nike shorts, and my lifeguard shirt, and throw my hair up in a pony tail.
i grab my work bag, sunglasses, whistle and keys and make my way out to the car making sure to tell olivia i'm leaving.

after about a half an hour i arrive at work and start my shift.
"hey lana" i smile at my coworker.
"hey liv, you're on the stand in five minutes." she smiles back.
oh i almost forgot, let me introduce you.
lana perez.
coworker at ridgefield swim club
varsity field hockey goalie
wrestler, not manager
and varsity lacrosse captain.
also one of my favorite people.. like ever.
*ring*
"hey liv can you get the phone i'm doing camp checks" lana asks.
"sure"
"ridgefield swim club, sun is shining, it's 86 degrees on this nice summer day, this is liv speaking how can i help you" i say in my work voice
"liv? hey this is daniel"
"hey daniel what's up"
"nothing i was hoping you would answer the phone, i went by your house today and olivia said you were at work, i have a questi-"
"liv your shift starts, we need you up on the stand"
lana yells.
"hold that thought, can i call you back?"
"yeah uh sure" he says.
i quickly take off my shirt and shorts, and put on my waist pack, leaving me only in my bikini, with my whistle around my neck. i make my way up to the stand while i hear three beeps from a car.
*beep beep beep*
i instantly knew that was my friends, they do that everytime they come. but there was five people instead of four.
they pay, put their stuff down on a near by table and make there way over to the stand to let me know they're here.
"livvvv, looking hot in your kini" kiara says.
"we got an extra person here" olivia teases.
i turn around and look down at a near by sun chair behind me and see the one and only daniel. wow didn't realize he had such a nice body.
"hey uh liv, you're drooling, also there's a kid drowning in the deep end" johnny says.
and low and behold, he was right. i quickly blow my whistle, and run over to the deep end and jump in. the person was a passive submerged victim, so this was gonna be a hard save.
"LANA, CALL 911 TELL ELLIE I NEED AN AED AND A BACKBOARD NOW, SUSPECTED NECK INJURY" i yell as i come back to the surface with the young boy in my arms making my way over to the nearby wall.
ellie puts the backboard into the water and helps me get the boy on while stabilizing his neck. and we get him out of the pool starting compressions and giving him oxygen.
"wait, he's an infant, we need to ask his parent for consent to help him" i said to ellie.
"i'll go find his parents" ellie's panics.
"the ambulance is on the way" lana comes back to me and says.
"we have consent, continue compressions i'll work the AED"
me, ellie, and lana were the lifeguards on duty. we each have a job, i'm doing compressions, while lana does the AED and ellie does the oxygen.
after about 90 seconds, of compressions and air, we do the AED, luckily after the first shock the boy spits up water and started breathing again.
shortly after, the ambulance arrived, we got him on and they were off to the hospital.
"attention, Ridgefield swim club, everyone will be allowed back in the pool in 5 minutes, thank you" i say over the microphone.
i was the rescuing lifeguard so i was in charge of the incident forms. while i was filling them out i hear a familiar voice.
"do you do that everyday"
i look up and i see daniel, leaving over the counter staring at me with a wide smile on his face. not to mention i was in a bikini with no towel, soaking wet.
"if i did that everyday i wouldn't be able to function, it's so scary how someone's life is in your hands" i say.
"yeah i bet, why are your friends not phased by what just happened" he asked.
"well, they've been my friends for years now, and i've been a lifeguard for a while. that's not the first time they've seen me save someone." i say.
"wow. well, that was amazing liv. you were so focused and calm. not to mention you looked pretty cute taking charge like that" he says as he walks away.
i could feel my cheeks getting red. what are you doing to me daniel?

yes, i know this chapter is boring and long, but i thought why not make a chapter about what liv does. and yes this is correct information as i am a lifeguard myself lol ... tbc :)
