Always together (Newtmas)

Chapter 5

No one's POV

It was the next morning and Newt got up to see Chuck standing outside the stone slabs. Newt sighed as he stood up and walked over there to go stand next to Chuck.
Chuck was trying not to fall asleep standing up. Newt shook his head as he got there. "Chuck." Newt said just as the doors started to open. Chuck snapped awake as soon as he heard the sound of the doors about to open.
He ignored Newt all together and started calling for everyone else to come. "Guys! Hey guys! Get up! " Chuck yelled, Newt looked round and saw a few boys running over there. And some that were sleeping on the floor waiting standing up. Newt sighed, they were being stupid.

The doors were opening and all the boys were all looking into the Maze."I told you Chuck, they"re not coming back..."
Chuck looked over at Newt and shushed him, looking back into the Maze and it opened.

The doors opened, showing nothing. No Thomas, Minho or Alby. Just an empty corridor. Chuck deflates sadly. Newt put a hand on Chuck's shoulder, keeping his thoughts to himself as everyone else started to walk away. Newt started to walk away as well until Zart yelled. "No way!"

Newt looked round and saw Thomas and Minho, holding Alby between them.
"Yeah!! Yes!!!" Chuck yelled. Newt was in shock.

After Clint and Jeff took Alby, Thomas and Minho basically collapsed from exhaustion. Everyone was asking questions like: "How did you make it out?!";
"What happened out there?"; "Did you see a Griever?"

Thomas responded to that one "yeah..I saw one."
Minho looked up, "he didn't just see it. He killed it." Minho said.

"You guys need rest." Newt told Thomas and Minho as the MedJacks took away Alby.
"Minho can." Gally started to say. "We need to decide on what to do with Thomas." Gally said.
Newt looked at him like that Gally was mad. "What?! They can BOTH rest Gally. We can decide of what to do later. They need rest. Including Thomas."
Gally rolled his eyes. "Fine whatever." Gally said as he decided to walk away.
Newt looked down at Thomas and saw him look down. Minho was getting up and as he walked away he slapped Newt on the back, with a smile on his face. Newt nodded then he felt someone looking at him. He looked down and saw Chuck there by Thomas. "I told Newt you'd come back." Chuck said smiling.

Thomas nodded. He didn't want to talk about Newt. Because he obviously knew Newt didn't even care about him.

Thomas got up and started to walk away past Newt. Newt watched him walk past. "Tommy!" Newt said as he decided to run after Thomas. "What?" Thomas asked as he tuned around with a sad expression on his face. "What do you want?" Thomas asked again.
Newt looked down. "Look-" Newt started. "Stop acting like you care Newt because I know you don't." Thomas said interrupting him.

Newt was dumbfounded. "I do care Thomas alright? I do."

"Then why did you think I wouldn't come back?"

Newt groaned "because I thought no one could survive in the Maze! But obviously they can!" Newt said pointing a hand a him. It was silent now, the two of them not speaking.

"I was really upset, ya know?" Newt said breaking the silence. Thomas looked down. "You said you didn't even like me ever and that we never friends. So why would you be upset or even care?" Thomas said looking back up. Newt looked guilty. "I'm sorry for being hurt by that, you just...I-I you've just been a great guy to me and it j-just hurt, you know?" Thomas stuttered.

Newt frowned. "I'm sorry..I've creeped you out now. Sorry." Thomas said as he started to walk away.

Newt shook his head, "Thomas! You didn't creep me out!" Newt stopped him by grabbing his hand. Thomas looked back.
"I'm sorry about all this Tommy. I didn't mean anything I said, okay? I understand how you were hurt, I was a bit of an ass." Newt said.
Thomas nodded. "I was just really upset about Alby and Minho. I didn't mean anything I said..." Newt said again. "Can you forgive me? Please?" Newt asked desperately.

A smile grew upon Thomas' face as he nodded. "Yeah, I forgive you." A smile grew on Newt's face as well. "Thanks Tommy."

Thomas smiled as he nodded and started to walk away from Newt.

Newt sighed with relief as Chuck came and stood by him. "What?" Newt asked as he looked down at Chuck.
Chuck was smirking, "Oh nothinggg." Chuck laughed as Newt raised an eyebrow at him.

Then Chuck crossed his arms. "And I told you they would come back." Newt rolled his eyes. "Whatever, you're such an annoying kid." Newt said.
Chuck smiled and ran after Thomas.

"I'm glad your back!" Chuck said happily as he caught up with Thomas.
Thomas looked down at Chuck and nodded, "me too." Thomas said. "I was just gone for a night. You really missed me that much?" Thomas asked raising his eyebrows.
Chuck rolled his eyes. "No. I didn't."

"Then why did you sleep outside last night waiting until morning to see if I came back?" Thomas said smiling.

"How did you know?" Chuck asked. "I just guessed." Thomas said.

"Well, I was just worried." Chuck said crossing his arms.

"Well thank you Chuck." Thomas said "your a great friend."

Chuck smiled at that.
