Imogen"Are all the booths set?" I asked, clutching onto my clipboard while walking through the endless rows of booths.
"Yes, they have their flags and paperwork set," Kylie responded, sending a thumbs up in my direction.
"Perfect! We have to make sure this college fair goes great," I said, swiftly pushing back the strands that were disrupting my view.
"Chill Imo, you don't need any more stress, especially over a stupid fair," Kylie consoled, snatching the clipboard from my grasp.
"If you didn't want to add any more stress, then why did you nominate me as President? Now give it back!" I demanded.
"No! You are in need of a break with everything going on, you're minutes away from having a nervous breakdown," Kylie said, holding the clipboard behind her back.
"I don't need a break," I exhaled, rolling my eyes.
"Yeah, yeah. Let's go shopping," Kylie squealed, throwing the clipboard into the garage can behind us. Before I could reach for it, she grabbed my wrist and pulled me out of the room.

There are a million productive things I could be doing instead of shopping for clothes. I could be investigating into the new murder reported this morning or channeling my stress into my music. With Lucas gone, I decided to pick up on music again. My mother-- well Taisla always told me how pointless singing was but she lost her credibility once she tried murdering me.
Music is the rhythm to my soul. It was the only thing able to lay my mind at ease when everything felt like it was falling apart. When I felt like I was falling apart. When my fingers touched the keys it felt like magic; like when I was with Lucas.
Lucas.
To think my birthday wish could come true. Probably going to hear an earful from Frankie about missing the cake but without my friends by my side it was pointless. She will understand that it was best for me to go home. If I wasn't home I wouldn't have answered my phone and would miss my dying wish.
He didn't say anything but I knew it was him. My gut was screaming it was him while my heart was thumping, straining against my ribs. My pulse was jumping so fast I was afraid it would pop out during our conversation. Finally, after months of praying he was okay, I got my answer.
Now, I need to find him and bring him home.
"Hello, Imo!" Kylie said, snapping her fingers in my face stealing me from my dazed state.
"Sorry, I was distracted," I shook my head, trying to push my thoughts back.
"You have ignored at least five of my outfits," she frowned, making sure to stick out her bottom lip. "How's this one?"
"Looks great! Are you wearing to impress Mr. Soulmate who you still haven't confessed their name? I'm this close from grabbing your wrist and finding out myself," I joked, admiring how the high-waisted jeans sank into her curves so perfectly.
When I wear jeans it seemed like a little boy was wearing them. Curse my parent's genes.
"We still working on our connection. Not everyone works perfectly like you and Lucas," Kylie beamed, twirling around in the mirror.
My body tensed at the sound of his name and caused my smile to slowly crawl back in its shadow. Crazy to think his name used to make my heart flutter but now it makes it split in two. When he gave himself in, he took a piece of my soul with him. I thought everyone knew his name was on the list of things we shouldn't mention in front of Imogen but apparently, Kylie didn't get the memo.
