Third PersonIt was a normal day in Blake's house. Rebel was wrapped like a cocoon in his blanket, sleeping like a baby on the bench in front of Frankie's bed. Since rescuing her, either Imogen or Rebel would stay with her during the night. Frankie sat in front of the bench admiring the way the sun glistened on his silk white cheeks.
The urge to touch him grew in her chest, but she didn't want to disturb the peace he was in. Besides, the longer he slept, the longer her heart would keep from beating erratically.
Meanwhile, Imogen and Drew were in the kitchen cooking up a batch of brownies. Today, so happened to be the annual Council Day, which is when the Council prepared a grand evening with food and drinks for the adults. This holiday was more entertaining when you were younger because of all the deserts and rides in the backyard.
Adults are expected to contribute to the food menu, which is the reason behind Imogen baking brownies at eight in the morning. Imogen had finished measuring every item into its own separate bowl before mixing them into a huge one. Drew had been munching on the snacks in their pantry while watching television.
Expect the only thing on in the mornings were cartoons and Drew wasn't having it.
"Why did you chose brownies out of all things?" Drew complained, marching into the kitchen catching a glimpse of a concentrated Imogen. "Isn't that and cookies everyone's first choice?"
"I love making brownies," Imogen pouted.
"Yeah, but it would different if they were actually good," Drew joked, munching on a chip receiving a glare from her.
Robert emerged from the hallway freshly changed from his quick shower moments earlier. He hadn't planned for anyone to be awake so earlier and wanted to cook breakfast for them. Though Imogen being awake now meant less work for him.
"Morning Robster," Drew mocked.
Robert's eyebrows pinched together. "Good morning."
"What time do you want to go to Council Day?" Imogen asked, mixing the wet ingredients in the bowl first.
"Ah. . . I don't really like going to that it was always Dany who enjoyed it," Robert slightly smiled, scratching the back.
"Watch you get there and twenty other people are going to have brownies," Drew said.
"I already told you I enjoy making brownies," Imogen restored.
"You know what I'll help and make them taste ten times better," Drew said, cramming the potato chips bag back in the cabinet.
He went next to Imogen yanking the ingredients from her. Imogen annoyingly smiled, handing over the bowl of flour which was the last ingredient. However, Drew thought it would be funny to sprinkle pinches of flour over Imi's head. Imogen gasped, nudging his shoulder before dipping her finger into the bowl.
Once her finger was lathered in brownie batter she slid her pointer finger across his cheeks. Watching Imogen laugh again made Drew's heart beam with delight. Since seeing Lucas a few nights ago she has returned to her sadness cocoon.
Robert's eyebrow raised, his lips pursed tightly. Everything he had witnessed caused worry to spread through his veins. Clearly, Drew was making advances towards Imogen and the older male didn't like it one bit. He viewed Imogen as a daughter; a daughter who deserved someone better than an erratic Drew.
Imogen's wrist might say Drew is her soulmate but Robert knew they were too different. Everything Imogen valued in life was laughed at by Drew. Not to mention how careless and ruthless Drew could be at times.
