CHAPTER SIX
( diver down )

"THEY SHOULD JUST SWITCH IT TO SOLAR POWERED ENERGY THEN!" Kiara declared from the passenger's seat, Aurora snickering from the back as she listened to the two bicker like an old married couple; something they did often.

"You say that like it's so simple to do." he shrugging his shoulders in annoyance, his hands remaining secured to the wheel.

"What's not gonna be simple, Pope, is when our generation doesn't get to have kids because we don't have the air and water to supply them!"

"Damn." Aurora piped up from the back with a tiny chuckle, her eyes briefly widening at Kiara's extreme statement. "That got dark."

"Okay, whatever Kie, we're here." Pope sighed exasperatedly, the van coming to a gradual halt in the gravel parking lot of The Wreck; swarming with dozens of customers like it always was in the summertime.

"See you later, Kiki." the Jennings girl smiled.

Kiara grinned and took her hand, delicately kissing the top of it. "My princess." she batted her lashes with an atrocious accent. She'd never been good at doing voices, but refused to accept it.

"My queen." Aurora giggled and dramatically rolled her eyes.

"Bye Kie." Pope waved, the girl giving him a happy smile before departing. He watched Kiara stroll inside the familiar, bustling establishment as Aurora crawled over the consult from the back to plop into the passenger's seat next to him with a grunt. "Between you and me, I think Kie is the princess." he joked.

"Are you calling me a queen, Pope Heyward?" she wiggled her brows.

"Maybe." the boy smirked, rotating the keys in the ignition as the vehicle rumbled beneath them; coming back to life at once.

"I literally have the name of a princess. The most basic, damsel in distress princess..." her voice trailed off, a mild look of disgust plastered to her face as she considered it. "It couldn't have been Moana, o-or Jasmine, or something cool?"

"Moana wasn't a thing when you were born." he chuckled at her antics, glancing over his shoulder as he backed out to the black-paved road.

"Yeah I know." she rolled her eyes, propping her feet up onto the dash.

"Plus, I like the name Aurora." he said, his tone unintentionally softer; unlike the cheesy jokes they'd been passing off to one another, this statement was honest.
