   S H A R I Q' S P O V

It's been half an hour since I left Uméma with Insharah near the ladies' section of the banquet, and I'm already feeling tense. The reason? Aunt Zakera and Mantasha. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. And, just to be clear, it's definitely not because I'm concerned about her.

Is it?

YES!

"Majnu." A hand landed on my shoulder. "You can go, escape. We'll cover for you." Rooh's voice pulled me out of my thoughts. Yes, he calls me Majnu too—all thanks to Shehroz for spilling the beans to him.

"What?" I turned to look at him with a confused expression.

"I know that you're missing your wife-"

"Oh please." I groaned. "Not you too, Ahad, Sameer and Shehroz are enough."

Rooh is a very friendly guy. We first met at Nabia's engagement—my cousin whose Mayoun ceremony is today—and we hit it off right away. He effortlessly mingled with everyone in the family, except for Insharah, I suppose. The two of them just don't seem to get along well..

"Really? Let me call all of them. It will be fun gang-teasing you." Before I could even stop him, he called the three musketeers.

"Hello guys, our Majnu here is missing his Layla-"

"WHO AMONGST YOU TOLD HIM ABOUT LAYLA BEING UMÉMA's MIDDLE NAME?" I looked at them with wide eyes.

"Not me." Sameer, Ahad and Shehroz synchronised.

"Hold on, is your wife's middle name Layla too?" Rooh asked.

"Yes, how did you know it anyway?"

"Bro, I just said it casually because the first word that comes to mind when I see you is—any guesses?"

"My name, of course," I replied in a duh tone.

"Nope, it's Majnu and eventually Layla," he declared, making me facepalm as the other three guys sniggered. "And the fact that Uméma's middle name is Layla just makes it even more interesting. Dang, you two are seriously couple goals, huh." He wiggled his eyebrows at me.

"Do you want to know the history behind it?" Shehroz stepped forward.

"History, geography everything." Rooh answered eagerly.

"Every dog has its day. Today, it's yours; tomorrow, it'll be mine. Just wait until one of you gets married—I'll spill all the secrets then." I raised my eyebrows at them. "Besides, why are you guys so interested in my married life, anyway?"

"Oh my God, is this our same Majnu who used to say that I will not get married, I am too cool for that?" Sameer pathetically attempted to mimic my voice.

"Marriage really did you wonders haa?" Ahad gave me a suggestive look.

These sick people!

"Exactly!" Rooh laughed along.

"Shariq, Uncle Saif is calling you." I heard Kabir's voice.

"Oh really? I am coming." I hurriedly moved away from them.

It is always Kabir who saves me.
