"Mom, did Shariq go?" I asked her who was sitting beside me while we were having our breakfast or rather brunch.

"Yes, beta, he left early in the morning for the office since he has to be there by ten o'clock, and it's a two-hour drive to the company," Aunt Sarah explained.

"Ohkay."

It was the day after Mehendi, everyone was tired because of the function and exhausted too. Tomorrow is the wedding and today is a gap for people to relax.

After I fell asleep in the car last night, I had no idea how Shariq ended up beside me. I only woke up when he started shaking my shoulder to wake me up.

"Don't worry." I felt Aunt Sarah's hand on my shoulder. "He will be back soon." She smiled at me assuringly.

Who is even bothered about him? Not me.

"Uméma!" I heard Insharah's overly-excited voice from beside me.

"What?" I looked at her face as her amber coloured, like Shariq's, widened at me.

"I am going to pick up Nabia appi's veil from the boutique today. Will you accompany me?" She clasped my hands in hers.

"Uh-"

"Please, don't deny." She gave me puppy eyes.

"Yes, Uméma it will be a change for you. Join her, only if you're not tired." Mom continued.

"Okay, I will." I agreed with her. It would be a change and I will get to see the new place too.

"Come on then, after breakfast we will leave." She gushed as I nodded at her words.

Twenty minutes later we both were standing out at the gate, after informing the adults about our whereabouts, I realized I hadn't contacted Shariq even once. I should have at least wished him all the best.

We were waiting for our cab when a car pulled up in the driveway.

The car's door opened and out alighted, Rooh.

"Oh my God, with what rubbish are you roaming around, bhabhi?" He walked towards me. "By the way, Asalamualaikum."

"Walaikumasalam." I replied back to him. "How come you're here?"

"Some Sanchak tradition. It is when the male members of the groom's family go to the bride and give her blessings, sweets and something else I don't remember, so I am here."

"Ohkay."

"What do you mean by garbage?" Insharah jumped in.

"You." Rooh countered back.

Their banter is really fun to watch. Very entertaining.

"Come on drop your act, I know you like me." Rooh smirked.

"Puh-lease, the only Rooh I like is Rooh Afza." She rolled her eyes. "Why am I wasting my time, let's go Uméma our cab's here." Insharah clutched my arm.
