The sun peered through gray curtains, a slight breeze from the open window causing them to sway. Sasuke groaned, placing a hand over his eyes to block the unwanted rays. He knew he had to get up eventually, he had plans and all of his friends were excited. He couldn't let them down. Or her.
He sighed and got out of his warm sheets, instantly missing the warmth as he made his way through his empty apartment. It was always like this, had been for a long time, but today the emptiness seemed to weigh on his mind. Maybe it was the sense of dread he felt for their outing today. The beach. It sounds fun, him and his closest friends spending a warm summer day lying on the beach and playing in the ocean. And Sasuke had been excited, until yesterday afternoon when they checked if everyone was coming.
He hoped that she would be, so he felt his pulse quicken as he waited on her answer.
"Yeah, but is it alright if I bring my boyfriend?"
He wanted to take back that he would go. He wanted to crawl in a hole and just lay there until they broke up. If they broke up.
No, when.
A twenty-two year old shouldn't really be dating a seventeen year old anyway.
Sasuke stood in the shower trying to let the water wash away his wary feelings. He didn't want to be a downer; anymore than he already was at least. Only a few people in his friend circle knew just how irritated he was about their relationship and he didn't want to make a scene.
"It's just one day, you baby. You can do this," he said to himself as he finally finished his shower.
"Oi, teme! You're finally here!" Naruto, his best friend, yelled as he ran up to him with his orange swim trunks and a black tee on.
"Do you have to yell so loud? I told you I'd be here didn't I, I'm not even that late."
"You are though," the blond countered as he tousled his friends hair. "In fact all we're waiting on is you, Sakura and Sasori."
He tried not to let anyone see his jaw clench as they walked to their group of friends. "Are you sure they're even still coming. Maybe they got too caught up in their PDA to pay attention to the time."
"Sasuke don't be so mean," Tenten scolded. She stood with her arms crossed, her boyfriend Neji's arm around her shoulders. "We all know you don't like Sakura but you could be nicer about her trying to bring Sasori around."
"Yeah, maybe then she'll start hanging out with us again," Ino added, looking at the ground with a sas expression before putting on a small smile. "I'm sure they'll be here soon."
As if on cue a small red car pulled up and out jumped the couple. Sasori had a bored expression and was wearing a black tank top and black swim trunks. The pinkette jumped out, wearing a mint green bikini that matched her eyes and a pink towel wrapped around the bottom. Sasuke bit the inside of his cheek and wanted to smack the blond beside him who had begun to wiggle his eyebrows.
So she looks nice, big deal.
"Sorry we're late everyone!" Sakura said with what Sasuke thought was forced cheer. "It took a little longer than I thought to get ready."
"Oh Sakura don't lie!" Ino squealed as she grabbed her friends face and tilted her head back to show a rather dark mark under her jawline. "Somebody was busy all right." She ended with a wink.
