It was a beautiful evening, the setting sun painting the sky in oranges, pinks, purples and reds. Birds were returning to their nests after a day of hunting and nighttime creatures were beginning to stir.

All was peaceful in the woods surrounding the large, bleak, gray castle.

Inside, however, the lord of the estate was pitching a fit.

"Why is the car still not fixed!?"

A wrench flew across the room, quickly followed by a hammer, some pliers and the unfortunate engineer's assistant. The car sat in the center of the room, lid open and tires off.

The lead engineer sighed as the others scrambled to repair the car and change its tires. Once in a mood, it was nearly impossible to deal with the usually jubilant vampire.

"Sir, it will require just a few more hours to get the vehicle in a working state."

"I don't have hours, Ushijima. You of all people should know that," the vampire shot back.

Ushijima stared back, unfazed. "We're going as fast as we can, Bokuto."

Bokuto waved him off, irate. "Just notify me when it's done."

Ushijima watched his receding figure, then turned back to his team.

"You heard him. Get to work."

Elsewhere in the castle, Bokuto stalked the corridors, his large frame hunched over in boredom. Bokuto paused in front of a lavish mirror, studying his broad figure in its reflection. He took in his gray and black streaked hair, admiring the way it hung over his forehead. Turning around, he swept back his dark cape and continued down the hall.

He could easily pass as a teenager, albeit a teenager with fangs who was 142.

Oh, he'd lived quite a while, but 142 was nothing in the grand scheme of things.

As he entered his chambers, a shadow sprinted past, just out of his line of vision. Bokuto narrowed his eyes suspiciously, peering around his room.

There was no warning.

One second it was silent, the next a dark, hairy figure leaped out from god-knows-where, tackling Bokuto to the ground with a cackle.

"How's my favorite bro?" the werewolf growled playfully.

Bokuto bared his fangs and pushed him off. "Horrible, if you must know."

"Aw, looks like someone's in a bad mood," his friend sneered, hands on hips.

Bokuto flopped back on his bed. "What do you want, Kuroo?"

Kuroo fake whimpered. "What, can a bro not visit from time to time? I know you're lonely up here."

To this, Bokuto rolled over to face the man-wolf he called his friend since birth. "Of course you can visit, just try to give a warning next time. I was a bit surprised, that's all."

Kuroo tapped his chin in thought. "Hmm, you haven't been out recently, have you?"

Bokuto sighed heavily. "Is it that obvious?"

In fact, Bokuto hadn't been out in two weeks, which was pretty worrisome. He needed to get some blood, or he'd go crazy. Hell, he just needed some company and a breath of fresh air.

"Your car still broken?" Kuroo asked.

"Yeah," Bokuto replied. "He said it'd take a few hours until it's finished."

"Bullshit," Kuroo spat. "You know what, take my car, go to town, get some fresh blood."

Bokuto stared. "Really?"

"Of course! I've always been a nice person."

Bokuto smirked and shook his head. "Sure. Thanks, man."

"No problem. Anything for my bro," Kuroo waved him off. "Now knock yourself out. I'm gonna pay a visit to flat-ass Frankenstein."

Bokuto smiled his first genuine smile for that week, then hurried to the car, his cape billowing out behind him.
