Here's a little rant from me so sorry about this everyone!

If I see one more person call the Scottish football leagues 'the farmers league', I will personally find them and give them a good slap across the face.

I'm sick of it.

Only Scottish people are allowed to call it shit and even then, it's not even that shit.

The money in Scottish football is miniscule in comparison to what England has. In the Premier League alone, there was £1.25bn spent in the transfer window. Chelsea were the top spenders having spent £226.1m.

The most expensive player bought in England this transfer window was Kai Havertz who Chelsea brought in for £72m. The most expensive player in the Scottish Premiership was brought in by Celtic at £4.95m (he's a second or third choice striker). The most expensive player outside of Celtic or Rangers was Kevin Nisbet who joined Hibernian from Championship side Dunfermline for an undisclosed fee but, according to Transfermarkt, he's currently worth £252k.

The highest paid footballers in the Premier League are David De Gea and Aubameyang who both get paid £375,000 a week (this is from TalkSport.com). According to statista.com, Celtic had the highest wage bill in the 2019/20 season and had around £895,000 to pay their whole senior team squad. At the bottom of the list was Hamilton Academical who only had around £41,000.

The money down south is astronomical in comparison to what we have so it's no wonder that it's 'better'. Not to mention that the population of London in itself is bigger than the whole of Scotland's so gate receipts and merchandise sales are going to be much, much higher.

Scottish football is a good game and we have broken several British records.

- The first British team to enter a European competition? Have a guess. Arsenal? Man Utd? Liverpool? I'll post it in the comments later.

- Who were the first British team to win a European trophy?

- Who were the first teams to play under floodlights?

- Who were the first team in British top-flight football to have shirt sponsors?

- Who were the first British club to reach a European semi-final?

- The first British club to beat Real Madrid?

- The first British team to score a European goal? (scored by Eddie Turnbull)

- The first and the only British football side to be named in the Brazilian football encyclopedia?

- The oldest footballing trophy in the world? (Officially recognised by Guinness World Records).

Answer me those questions before reading the next bit.

If your answer to any of those questions was anything other than a Scottish club, you're most definitely wrong. You could still be wrong depending on which Scottish club you said but that's not the point here.

Scotland, in a sense, have paved the way for British football and not many people realise it. I couldn't find many firsts that weren't Hibs because even when I search up 'British', the only results that come up are all to do with England despite the fact that Scotland, England and Wales make up Britain so if you can find any more, please comment them! I'm super interested!

For some reason, everyone took to English football. That's why Sky and BT cover almost every English game that there is whilst we get a maximum of two Scottish games per week unless there's a really good mid week game. All the TV money goes to England. I can't complain too much because I am one of those people who watches loads of English football games but I just hate when non-Scottish people slate Scottish football.

Most of our national team play in England: John McGinn, Andy Robertson (Champion's League and Premier League winner who once played for Dundee United), Kieran Tierney (FA Cup and Community Shield winner who played for Celtic), Scott McTominay, Lyndon Dykes, Oli McBurnie (we don't claim him), Ryan Fraser, David Marshall, Liam Palmer, Liam Cooper, John Fleck, Callum Paterson, Stuart Armstrong, Tom Cairney, Kenny McLean, Charlie Mulgrew, Robert Snodgrass. I think you get the point.

This was very extensive and very passionate as you can probably tell.

Scottish football could be as great as England if we had the same amount of money but for now, I'm quite happy watching my 'farmers league' and watching all of the entertaining antics that happen week in and week out, even if the decisions against my team are wrong 90% of the time.

And remember, if you're not Scottish, don't slate the Scottish game. And also, if you don't have a Scottish team, please don't just pick Celtic or Rangers for the sake of it. Be creative, be different and pick someone else.

Hope you liked my rant!

Lots of love, e x
