i built a friend

"I'm Saihara Shuichi. Nice to meet you." A blue haired boy said.
"I am K1-B0. But please, address me as Kiibo! Pleasure to meet you as well." A robot said back.

with two pieces of plastic and a pen

"Are you seriously an actual robot? Like...made of metal and everything?"Saihara asked.
"Hey! That's robophobic!" K1-B0 shot back.
"R-robophobic? I'm so sorry!"

i made him on the table in the den

"So...what's up?" Saihara sat on the desk at the Ultimate Robot's lab.
"Well what do you want to talk about, Saihara?" K1-B0 sat next to the detective.

i gave him my old cell phone as a head

"Uwah! Y-your ahoge!" Saihara exclaimed.
"Oh yeah! It just...comes off. I don't know how though." K1-B0 laughed.

and we had so much fun together

"Gotcha!" Saihara smiled like a dork. "About time I won."
K1-B0 nodded.

we knew we'd be friends forever

"IT IS NOW 10 PM" the announcement blared.
"Night, Kiibs!" Saihara waved.
"Goodnight, Saihara." K1-B0 waved back.

then i left for college in september

"What're we gonna do after Hopes Peak? Are we still going to be friends?" Saihara jumped up and sat criss-cross on K1-B0's bed.
"Of course!" K1-B0 smiled. "I'd never just leave you!"

and we wept cause we can't be together

"K-KILL EACH OTHER?" Saihara shouted.
"No way! We-we'd never do that!" K1-B0 stood straight.

so i kept pictures to remember my friend

"Kiibs smile!" Saihara took a picture of the two from his monopad.
"Aw! I love it!" K1-B0 said when he looked at it.

then i met this girl at graduation

"Akamatsu!" Saihara raced to catch up with his newest friend, Akamatsu Kaede.
"Sai-oh."

and forget my oldest creation

"Saihara! Wanna come to my lab later?" K1-B0 asked.
"I would, but I promised Momota and Akamatsu I'd hang with them." Saihara smiled halfheartedly.

and i guess i'll see him next vacation

Saihara smiled at K1-B0 from across the hallway. The robot slightly smiled back.

send my best. i'll send my best

"I know we don't talk much but I really don't want you to die, Kiibs." Saihara had no emotion.
"Yeah. I don't want you to die either." K1-B0 sighed.

and we had so much fun together
we knew we'd be friends forever

i came home to find him on the table

"My inner voice doesn't matter anymore! I'm going to end this killing game with my frie-" K1-B0...shut down? No because his eyes glowed blue.
"K-kiibs? Are you okay?" Saihara was worried.

with a note scribbled out in pencil

"change the world. my final message. goodbye."

next to him an empty glass of water

"KIIBO"

that he spilled all over the body

"KIIBO NO"

that i built, it fizzled and it popped

"KIIBO PLEASE THINK ABOUT THIS"

and then it killed

"KIIBO I LO-" Saihara got interrupted by a loud explosion.

and then it killed

The detective started sobbing. He fell to his knees, unable to say anything else.

and we had so much fun together
we thought we'd be friends forever
