"Puhuhu! Yes indeed, the culprit of this case is Kaito Momota!"
Shuichi bit his lip and looked away from Kaito. Why...Why did it have to be him of all people?

"Shuichi I'm sorry...I had to do that..."
Shuichi looked up.
"I k-know. Y-You tried to do good. It's not your fault. I don't b-blame you Kaito and I never will."

"Thank you sidekick." Kaito smiled. "So I guess this is the end for me huh?"
"No...It shouldn't end like this Kaito! This shouldn't be the end of your story!"
Nobody had ever seen Shuichi like this. He wasn't even this sad over Kaede.

During the killing game, the two had spent many hours bonding together. Kaito had pulled him out of his sadness, shown him life was a bit more than just being sad. And in return, Shuichi had taught Kaito to think more rationally.

"I'm sorry it had to turn out this way. If it had been better...this...all of this would've been over."
"You did what you could! I just..." Shuichi rubbed his arm "Don't want you to go..."
"I have to. You know the drill..."

Kaito suddenly pulled Shuichi in to a right embrace, which the detective returned.
Kaito smiled sadly again and pulled back.
He took off his jacket and wrapped it around Shuichi.

"Hey at least you can remember me with this. Promise to remember me, Kaito Momota, Luminary of The Stars!"
"I p-promise..."

"Alright, alright let's get this show on the road already! Now, let's give it everything we've got! It's punishment time!"
Kaito and Shuichi shared one more sad look before Kaito was brutally pulled away.

Shuichi was forced to watch as Kaito went to space and back, but instead of dying by Monokuma's rules, he died from his sickness.

It didn't change anything.

He was still dead.

Shuichi punched his pillow again, hot tears spilling down his face.
"DAMNIT WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY?!"
He was thrashing around in his room, the sadness and loneliness finally setting.

He threw the pillow at the wall. He continued crying and screaming. None of the deaths had hit him this hard but losing Kaito was just...

"I DON'T WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME ANYMORE PLEASE STOP THIS!"
He put his head in his knees, shaking and rocking back and forth. He was an absolute mess.

"PULL ME OUT! PULL ME OUT! PULL ME OUT OF THIS GAME!"
