"The one who killed Mukuro Ikusaba was...sadly...Makoto Naegi." Kyoko Kirigiri said. She didn't sound sad at all. In fact, she was emotionless. Byakuya Togami was barely able to hold in tears, for he loved the boy. That was absurd for the esteemed affluent progeny, but it was a sad fact. Meanwhile Makoto was looking around the room worriedly.
"G-guys...you can't actually believe th-that I did it...right?"
Byakuya wanted to break down right then and there. Makoto looked so helpless and the taller boy knew somehow that Kyoko was wrong. He didn't kill her. But nothing could stop Monokuma.
"ITS PUNISHMENT TIIIIIME!"
Byakuya pulled Makoto aside for a second. The smaller boy was crying.
"Wh-what?" He asked. Byakuya leaned down so nobody else was in earshot and whispered.
"I love you."
And then Makoto was dragged away. Byakuya had to watch the love of his life get crushed under a giant box. It was horrific. He couldn't bare it. He just...just couldn't. After the execution he locked himself in his room, cried, and sorta beat himself up about the fact that there was probably something he could've done to stop that.

The next trial began with Kyoko starting off. Everything was normal. As normal as it could be without him here. Byakuya couldn't think about that without getting the urge to sob, though.
Then it was his turn to speak.
So he did. He presented relevant evidence, and did everything right.
Until.
"Tell em Nae-oh."
He stopped. The tall boy didn't say anything for the rest of the trial. He was afraid he was going to cry if he opened his mouth.

There was no Naegi left to tell them.
