Theodora's POV

I walked through the halls of my Russian private academy. Feeling the coldness in my heart i've grown accustomed to. I reached my hand out to glide against the stone, ice cold. In Russia, it wasn't just my heart that was cold.

It's my last day at my 15th Academy. Soon, i'll be shipped off to the 16th. I'll be finishing the second semester of my junior year before inevitably getting the call that dad got a new case.

I've traveled around the world attending different schools while following my father, William Robert. He's a foreign legal consultant, basically an international lawyer. He's worked for some of the biggest companies around the world. These companies are so massive that they're basically an empire in their own right. And the people who own them have it all at the touch of their fingers, their the 1% of the 1%.

It's always only been the both of us. Though I've never met my mother, my father always said it was better that way. It was obviously a sore spot for him, and since we never spent much time together anyways, it was easier to not talk about. I loved my father, but family was never the top of priorities, so I didn't really have an issue with this mystery.

As I reached the entrance of the school, I looked back onto the beautiful academy. It was the 15th time having to say goodbye to a school, and I grew numb to the feeling. The hurt that used to bang in my heart was no more as I knew there was nothing I could do. My father refused to let me stay at one school and preferred I stayed in the same area as him for security reasons. In the back of my mind, I always longed for a place to be able to call home, a place to grow up in.

I shook my head at the thought, knowing I should be grateful for what I have. I'm almost 17 and have the life many could only dream of. I lived in mansions, had a wardrobe that costed a small fortune, always flew private, went to the best schools, and well, you get the point.

I opened the double doors, letting the cold Moscow air wrap me up, it always gave me the chills. These winters were no joke. Maybe the next school could be in Hawai'i.

Sitting out in front of the entrance, I saw my chauffeur in our black cadillac escalade waiting for me.

While entering the cadillac, I noticed it wasn't my usual driver it was my father? "Hey, dad... I thought we were gonna meet at the house, " I exclaimed with slight apprehension. "No, I finished work early, so I decided to pick you up," he said, looking at an email on his phone. I nodded and looked out the window as my father drove away from the academy.

While driving, I sat in silence, listening to my father on a phone call. It was always business with him, and now was no different.

I looked out the window, observing the snow falling onto the slick roads. Some driving cautiously, while others sped along with no thought to anyone. It always irked me that they were so reckless with their driving.

My thoughts were too soon interrupted by my father screaming bloody murder. I whipped my head fast enough to see a car smash into my father's side of the SUV.

Then it all went black.

Who would have known this would kill my father and the life I thought I knew as normal.
