Dear Fleur,

My favorite day spent with you
was the one in late October
where we redecorated our room.
That miserable dorm room
in that too cramped space.
The very one we somehow found a way to make her own.

I never knew how pretty
golden hued fairy lights could be
until they lined our higher walls.
There was a beauty in printing out our favorite pictures in wallet sized squares. Arranging them in wave-like formations on the dull white walls.
Lofting our beds to squeeze all the spare necessities underneath.
Rearranging our pillows and blankets into an aesthetic mess of colors and patterns.

With the soundtrack of Hamilton and Rent playing in the background,
that's how we spent our day.
Lost in the beauty
of meshing you plus me.

I told you everything about me and you told me everything about you.

Fleur, you're one of those people that can get anyone to talk after knowing them for two seconds.
You just, you always know how to put people at ease like that.

Learning about you that day was the start of something neither of us were prepared for.
You opened my eyes
and I opened yours.
And, I think, that's why our friendship lives on to this day.
We're always giving each other more than we ever dare take.

Equality, I'd say, is the best way to explain the relationship we share.

Equality.
