Taehyung sat at his desk, grading some tests when suddenly an apple appeared out of nowhere. Taehyung followed the hand up. "Why are you giving me this?"
"Best present you could give a teacher no?" Taehyung reluctantly accepted it, putting it to the side. "Okay but why?"
"To apologize for all the dumb things I've done."
"Perhaps I'd accept it if you stop doing dumb things after apologizing." Jungkook fumbled with his rings, breaking eye contact. "I don't screw up often, only when I'm nervous."
"And when are you nervous?" Taehyung impatiently clicked his pen, wanting this conversation to be over. "Around you." Taehyung stopped clicking his pen, leaning back and folding his arms. "Why?"
"I want us to get along but I made the worst first impression and now you hate my guts... It also doesn't help that you're constantly judging my teaching abilities yet refusing to talk to me. You're not that much expierenced than me you know..."
"This is my fifth year being a homeroom teacher and my sixth of teaching, I'd say I have the upperhand here."
"I've taught for 3 years."
"Half my expierence. I have the rights to judge you." Jungkook bit the inside of his cheek. "Why do you hate me?"
"I don't hate you."
"You sure act like you do."
"If I hated you we wouldn't be holding this conversation." Jungkook looked back at Taehyung, his eyes riddled with a hurt expression. "Then why do you treat me like this?"
"Because you're incompetent and refuse to listen to someone who does know what they're doing." Jungkook bit his lip so he could prevent it from quivering. "For a teacher you lack empathy."
"You're not a child, are you?"
"You're setting the wrong example for children."
"They're bound to get treated the same way one day. Society is tough, you can't shelter them forever." Taehyung looked at the apple Jungkook had given him. He picked it up and tossed it back towards him. "Leave."
"To think I admired you." Jungkook's doe eyes were no longer sparkling, they were filled with resentment. He took long strides out of the classroom, shutting the door harshly behind him. Taehyung flinched from the sound. He fixed the glasses on his nose before continuing to grade the tests.
-
"He's straightforward but I don't recognize him in what you're describing." Jimin told Jungkook. Jungkook had gone over to discuss the bad grades his class had gotten with the latest math test but the subject had quickly changed.
"I've done everything to make that man at least tolerate me but he's only been rejecting all of my attempts." Jimin raised his brows in shock. "I'm sorry but that really doesn't sound like the Taehyung I know.... And we've been friends for a long time."
"Guess he changed huh?" Jungkook scoffed, glaring down at the ground. "Believe me, I would've noticed. Tell you what, I'll talk to him.... Maybe I should get Namjoon to talk to him, he doesn't really listen to me."
-
"Taehyung." Taehyung looked at the door, stopping with scribbling on the chalkboard. "What is it Joon?"
"Can we talk?" Taehyung mentioned towards one of the chairs, putting down his chalk and dusting his hands off. "Of course, what is it?"
"I want you to put your best foot forward regarding Jungkook. He's trying his best. You're one of the most patient lecturers on this school, I'm sure you can put on the same attitude for him."
"Did he talk to you?"
"No. But Jimin did...." Taehyung rolled his eyes at the mention of his best friend's name. He was always quick to betray him behind his back, pulling things like this. "But listen Tae, the impression you leave on this man is what he's going to carry around for a long time. Jimin became a homeroom teacher last year, encountered an ass and now he refuses to be one again. We both know Jimin is perfectly capable to be a homeroom teacher."
"Jungkook isn't."
"That's what Jimin's partner said as well. I have looked at Jungkook when he's teaching and talking to the students. He can do this, he just has a different teaching style as yours. Come on Tae, I know you're not this judgmental." Taehyung put off his glasses and rubbed his eyes. "I guess you're right.... Like usual... Damn you Namjoon Kim." Namjoon let out a small chuckle, his dimples slightly showing.
"It's your turn to apologize." Taehyung looked up at Namjoon and let out a big sigh.
"Fineee."
