Like often said, life had it's good karma! It wasn't dead after all when one day a middle aged man entered the orphanage — receiving many weird looks from the children. They all whispered that he was dress rather weirdly. Well, one could not disagree. He was dressed in robes, something no muggle ever saw in the local market or offices.
And he carried a briefcase, his beard was greying and he wore half moon spectacles that covered his pale twinkle- ish eyes.He claimed to be a professor from a special school that wanted to accept both Tom and Angelina as per request of their parents. Mrs. Cole found it very peculiar as nobody ever visited the pair, but despite the weird feeling she led the man to Tom and Angelina's room after some interrogation. After all, she didn't want to talk much when she could get drunk on fine gin.
"Tom, Angelina you have a visitor."
A man entered the room, the professor as he called himself, Tom was sitting at the desk while Angelina was reading a book about butterflies which she borrowed from her only other friend, Amy Wheeler.
"How'd you two do Angelina and Tom?" the man asked. They both looked up at the strangely dressed man. The man observed the room; one side of the room had dainty flowers and light decorations while the other side was just... so plain. Almost seemed unoccupied.
He set his briefcase on the ground and made himself comfortable in the small room and went ahead and tried to open Tom and Angelina's shared wardrobe."Don't." Tom croaked stopping the man immediately and also causing Angelina to look up in worry. The man sat on Tom's bed while the eleven year olds were sat on Angelina's bed.
"You're the doctor aren't you?" Angelina said quietly, knowing way too well about the doctor who used to come around every week poking Tom and Angelina with needles, drawing blood for tests.
Mrs. Cole wanted to know the reason why they were strange. She often thought the two had a similar health condition or a popular illness.. mental health disorders. She didn't know what it truly meant but there was an institution for children like them — children who needed help.
"No, I'm a professor,"
"I don't believe you," Tom coldly taunted. He didn't trust much, but to be fair whenever he trusted someone, he was let down every time.
"She wants us looked at, she thinks we're different." Angelina slightly nodded with the tiniest huff."Well perhaps she's right," Angelina's head shot up and she slightly narrowed her eyes at him.
"We're not mad." She clarified, her words clear.
"Hogwarts is not a place for mad people, Hogwarts is a school — school of magic. You two can do things can't you? Things other children can't," the professor voiced out loud.
Tom and Angelina exchanged looks.
"What can you two do?" The man asked them both, he tried to keep his tone much encouraging. Angelina looked at Tom worriedly, but Tom gave her a slight nod indicating her to talk further.
"I can make flowers bloom and change color. I can make it feel cold or warm. I can see stuff I am not supposed to see." Angelina whispered, a chill ran up her spine. She had never told anyone about these things she could do except Tom. It almost felt freeing to confess her disability out loud.
Tom then voiced out his disability.
"I can make things move without touching them. I can make animals do what I want without training them. I can make bad things happen to people who are mean to Angelina and me — can make them hurt if I want. Who are you?" he finally asked.
