EVEREST is a 17 year old, half Puerto Rican and American girl who doesn't know how to swim... Yeah, it sounds quite impossible for a teenaged girl who lives in the outer banks of North Carolina to not know how to swim...But she didn't.
AND a reason on why she didn't know how to swim was because she originally lived in the big apple where there were so many huge buildings... water no where to be seen unless you went to a pool, or on a ferry, or drove over the bridges that lead to other places in New York City...
NOW you must be wondering why a city girl would move to the outer banks of North Carolina. No she wasn't rich, but she wasn't poor neither.
HER abuela Sofia who tragically passed away from cancer had left them her estate and everything she could possibly have. Like a small cat named milo, to things like a book on how to survive a snake bite.
EVERYTHING was okay until her mother uses half of the money Abuela Sofia left them to enroll Everest into Kook Academy which turned out to be the worst idea ever.
SHE got teased by a group of girls because she's a pogue and when one of the girls from her class room brung up her dead abuela and how they were low life's. Everest threw the first punch which leads to the girls' friends to corner her in the bathroom and beat her up.
WHILE in the bathroom, over thinking her life, Kiara Carrera befriends Everest , and they become great friends, each girl letting each other in on everything that has happened in their lives.
KIARA talks about JJ to Everest. Things like that he was a great guy but needed to find the right one to make him happy. Things about him like how he was a goofball and how much he loved to surf, Swin, eat, smoke, party and dance.
SHE never thought she would ever get to this JJ guy until she did.
