Chapter 15 Stay With Me

Matt calls after what seems like an eternity,

-I'm outside with two police officers and residential security, you can open the door.- He says.

I come out of the bathroom, where I was hiding for the last 15 minutes, I have barely opened the front door, when I throw myself into Matt's arms taking him by surprise.

I can only cry and shake, he hugs me baffled by how vulnerable I am, plus I had never hugged him.

-Easy now, I'm here- he says while stroking my hair.

-We have checked the perimeter and there are no signs of an intruder, do you have a surveillance system? - Asks one of the officers, they have already introduced themselves but I was so scared that I did not hear their names.

-Huh? Yes, yes, this way- I guide them to the room where the monitors are and we watch the recent recordings together.

I don't know what I was expecting, but we only see the silhouette of a person, another camera reveals a little more; someone dressed in black from head to toe, but nothing else.

I start to shake again, damn the moment I thought having floor-to-ceiling windows was a good idea! Blinds don't give that much protection after all.

The officers take my destroyed cell phone to try to get information from the unknown number and Matt offers to stay with me.

-Thank you,- I say as if I hadn't already thought of asking him to stay before he offered it.
