IT WAS ALREADY MID-JULY, and Harry was still stuck at Number 4, Privet Drive. His Godfather, Sirius Black, had promised to pick him up after approximately one week of staying with the Dursleys, giving enough time for the blood wards to kick in. Still, Harry's dogfather and foster-sort-of-godsister, which, by the way, Harry was having a hard time grasping, as he felt a slight jolt in his stomach whenever he saw the young girl, but more on that later, had yet to visit him at the home of his sizable aunt and uncle. Harry was lying on his bed, catching a toy snitch gifted to him by Rosie and thinking of what Professor Trelawney had said in the strange daze she went into after his Divination exam, when he heard a pop followed by a crash of pots and pans. Both sounds were highly unusual at the Dursleys, yet Harry had no question as to what the former was. Someone had apparated. Right into the living room of Number 4, Privet Drive. Harry applauded whoever it was for the nerve to appear just like that. Harry crept downstairs to see one red, one black, one blonde, and one brown head all arguing. Loudly.
"Who are you?"
"Sirius I told you to apparate in front of the house!"
"Sorry Rosie."
"What are you doing in my house! Oh look at the dust!" Just as Petunia said that, Rosie waved her hand, (something that Harry knew was just for show, it really wasn't necessary for a powerful witch like Rosie) and all of the dust and smoke disappeared.
"Good evening, Mr. and Mrs Dursley."
"Oh look Vernon! It's a pretty girl! Are you here for Duddykins, darling?"
"She's a redhead, she wouldn't look good with our little tyke."
Harry did a double take. The redhead was Rosie? Harry couldn't say he didn't like her new look, the opposite, really...
"Quite," Sirius butted in, "the contrary, actually. I'm Sirius Black, Harry's godfather. This is Aurora, my... daughter. We're here to bring Harry to our home." Harry was amazed at how professional Sirius sounded.
"If the freak had a godfather all along, why has he been staying here for the past 13 years? Surely you could've taken him in?"
"Ah, yes," Rosie sharply cut Vernon off before he could say more to offend Sirius. "That is why I'm here, you see, there are some... what were the terms you used? Ah, yes, freaky business to attend to concerning Lily's death." Rosie looked sharply at Petunia as if saying, 'I have the power to kill you so you better be nice to me.'
Smiling nervously, Harry's aunt stuttered, "O-of course. Come in, come in." The four quickly sat down and Harry could've sworn that Rosie, out of the corner of her eye, smiled at Harry somehow. The Boy-who-had-a-Nasty-Crush smiled dopily and stared at Rosie for a good minute or so, and was only broken out of his trance when his uncle shouted,
"SIRIUS BLACK! Of course, you're that nasty fellow who made fun of me for not using freakish money with Petunia's sister's good for nothing husband! And, YOU SUGGESTED WE NAME DUDLEY ELVENDORK!" Vernon roared.
Meekly, Sirius replied, "it's unisex?"
Rosie, ever the sensible one, jutted in. "We can talk about that later, but now we really need to talk about Harry's guardianship." She paused. "Due to some... unfortunate circumstances involving a rat and being accused of a crime one did not commit, Harry was put into your care. Harry would've lived with Sirius if he could, but there was another factor at hand anyway. You may or may not know that when Voldemort, that is, the psychopath who killed Harry's parents, -When Voldemort killed you sister, Lily sacrificed herself for Harry, thinking that he wouldn't kill Harry if he killed her instead. This created a barrier, of sorts, making it unable for Voldemort to harm Harry. To keep this protection, Harry must stay with a blood relation of his mother's, namely... you, Mrs. Dursley, at least for a week each year." Petunia looked as if she wanted to say something, but thought better of it and backed away. "So we, that is, Sirius and I, propose that Harry stays with you for a small portion of his summer break as a 'visit to his relatives,' shall we call it? but Sirius will have full custody of Harry and he will live with us for the most part. Do you have any concerns?"
