ARIADNE'S POV
I quickly washed my face and put some concealer on to hide the tear stains. I brushed my hair a bit, and dashed out of Olympus. Marissa was waiting for me at the lobby. We she saw me her eyes teared up again. I hugged her.
"We got this Ri." she said. I simply nodded.
Together we ran to the Zanders'. By the time I got there I was drenched in sweat, Marissa on the other hand looked like she walked out of a New York Times magazine.
I knocked on the door weakly. Alisha, Sheela and Aiden's mom opened the door.
"Aria, Marissa! It's been so long! Did you run all the way here?" she asked.
"Y-Yeah, From t-t-the Empi-r-e Sta-t-e Buil-di-n-g" I panted.
"Oh dear, that's a long way. You two should've taken your car." she said.
"We had no time, I take that the twins are all depresso?" I asked, regaining some breath.
She nodded and ushered us inside.
Sheela was sitting at the table, her eyes red and drinking hot chocolate. Aiden stumbled down stairs in a daze. He saw me and Marissa, and took in my bloodshot eyes and Marissa's trembling body, he looked at his sister's blank and numb form. He sat down shaking.
Yes this is probably exaggerating, but we grew up with these books, and well the thought that is actually over hits hard.
I sat at the table. Alisha frowned but placed a mug of hot chocolate in front of Aiden and a bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream in front of me, and a cup of lemonade for Marissa.
Alisha was an amazing mom, next to by mom of course.
"What's wrong with you guys?" she asked.
"It's nothing mom." mumbled Sheela. Aiden glared at her.
"Tower of Nero happened." I mumbled. Alisha sighed.
"All this for a book?!?!" she exclaimed.
We looked at her in pure horror.
"JUST A BOOK?!?!" yelled Aiden, getting up from his seat.
Sheela got up and pulled him back down. "Do not take out your anger on her." she said.
I nodded in agreement. "Deep breaths." I coached.
Alisha blinked for a few seconds then ran a hand through her hair. "Right,I forgot you get really attached to a book." she muttered to herself and went into the kitchen.
"We are going to check on the others right?" asked Sheela. I nodded.
"Follow me." I muttered. We walked outside and to the sidewalk.
I inhaled and willed my car to appear. "In you go." I said and got into the driver's seat.
I sat down and composed myself. I couldn't let everyone see me like this. Sure, Uncle Rick stopped writing on greek mythology, but that doesn't mean that we stopped reading. We can re read the books and go on the roller coaster over and over again. Besides, we are getting a tv show right? We are going to see Leo on screen. I really want the Heroes of Olympus to be turned into a musical. I wonder who would sing Leo. Anyway, that was me burning my sadness to the depths of my soul and pushing my happiness to the sky, also known as my face. Marissa looked at me sympathetically.
