Chapter Twenty-four

Shiller was pacing back and forth anxiously. She tugged her hair so hard, the others were afraid that it'll come off.
Ray, Tony, Berry, Frank and Julian, all sat down on one of the couches in the living room, looking worriedly at Shiller.
"Shil baby, you need to chill" Berry finally spoke up
Shiller paused her pacing for a second and looked at Berry before resuming.
"I mean, they could be busy and don't have time to pick up their phones" Berry continued
Shiller stopped again and responded this time
"Busy?! They're busy?! What kind of work could college boys actually be doing that they don't have time to pick up their phones for the past three days?!" She screamed so loud, the others winced.
"Clarissa is missing, now my brothers?" She said sadly. Sighing loudly, she flopped down on the couch.
Ray and Berry simultaneously rubbed her back comfortingly.
"Have you checked with your Mum?" Ray asked
"Yeah, the call goes straight to voicemail and that's very unlike my mum. What if-what if-, oh my goodness!" She tried to stand up again but both Ray and Berry held her down on the couch.
" What if nothing. You need to breathe Kittie, you need to breath" Ray said gently and soon enough, her breathing returned back to normal.
"Thanks"
"We'll find them, I'm sure they're fine"
Just then, someone's phone pinged. Everyone checked their phones and Julian found out it was his. He check the message a fellow colleague has sent him concerning a case file on Clarissa Lumber Smith and he couldn't believe his eyes.
"Tony, Ray, Frank. Can I see you guys for a minute?" He asked, motioning with his head for them to go outside. They nodded and followed him out.
As soon as he made sure that there was nobody around them, he told them what was on his phone.
"Guys, someone just sent some info we need about Clarissa"
"Well, what does it say?" Tony asked
"It says here that back in LA, she had been locked up for numerous crimes and had always found ways to escape. She's known as one of LA's most notorious criminal and for a while she changed her identity; from her name down to her appearance" they all listened with shock
"The most recent crime that she committed was murder" they gasped
"Murder?" Ray asked, genuinely shocked
"Yeah. There men have been found dead in three different locations and they found evidences. When they did DNA tests for the fingerprints found, turned out it was hers"
"How then is she walking freely?" Ray thought aloud
"She wasn't at first, it seemed she was bailed out, but that's not all"
"There's more?" Frank who had been quiet all this while, spoke up
"Yeah. These men she killed are extremely rich men. They were; Taylor Barvins, Nicholas Sprout and Donald Raven"
"Dude! Those are like, one of the richest guys in the country" Tony said wide-eyed
"Or were" Ray said quietly
"What?"
"I said, they were"
"Oh, right"
"Who would even bail out a murderer?"
"Another murderer maybe"
"Now, she's here in New York. Ray you have to be careful, I think you're next" Julian said looking at Ray worriedly.

That same day, Tony and his team organized a search party for the twins and their mother. Shiller had once received a message from an unknown number, saying that they should meet at a particular location the next day if she wants to see her family alive. When she showed it to Ray and told him she wanted to leave immediately, he refused to let her go. They argued, they fought but he was eventually able to calm her down a bit.
She left the house so she could clear her head.
She came back home late that night. She saw that the front door of her apartment was slightly open and she frowned. She walked quietly inside, she couldn't help but feel a kind of déjà vu. She heard murmuring but couldn't identify the voices nor the words.
"Mike? Mitch? Is that you? Hello? Who's there?"
Suddenly a cloth was clamped down on her mouth with one hand while the other held her firmly. She kicked and tried to scream but it was of no use because it seemed like the cloth had been sprayed with a chemical because she felt her eyelids start to droop.
The last thing she remembered was that she was being carried away by two pairs of hands and a man's voice said "call the boss and tell him we have her and are on our way"
Boss? she thought. Then everything went black.
