31 - Birthday dinner

I woke up to the smell of Pancakes. It was my 23rd birthday, but it didn't feel like anything particularly special. I let Theo onto the bed and cuddled with him when Corey walked in with a tray of freshly made blueberry pancakes. "Awww thanks love." I said softly.

"No worries my Angel." He says sitting beside me. "I love you so much. Happy birthday." I kissed his cheek. "So I have a present for you." He said as I began eating the pancakes. "And also a surprise."

"Thanks cowboy. I can't wait. It's weird not being at Kara's. I've always been at Kara's house the morning of my birthday. But it feels good being with you though. And I know I can't wake up at Kara's every year." I finished eating as did Corey and he got my gift out. I opened it and inside the box was light up image of us from when I saw Corey for the first time on my birthday last year. ((See image above)) "Corey. It's beautiful. I love it so much love. From this time last year." I said remembering it clearly. "I was so excited when I saw you. I couldn't believe you were there."

"I'm so glad I came. It was an amazing day. I can't even believe it was a year ago now. I still can't believe we've been dating for over a year now."

"I know. And it's been the most incredible year ever. I say this a lot but meeting you was the greatest thing that ever happened to me. I wouldn't be the girl I am today without you in my life. And I'm so blessed to have you Corey."

"I'm blessed to have you too Katie. You're the greatest person I've ever met and being with you makes me so happy, and I love the life we've created together." He said softly.

"Yeah. Our life and our little family." I said picking up Theo and kissing his head.

"Okay. So my surprise for you. I've taken the day off work, and I've also booked you off work too. Because we didn't get a date on Valentine's Day I'm taking you out for a joint birthday and Valentine's Day date tonight. I've booked us a table at this restaurant I've heard good things about."

"It sounds wonderful Cor. I can't wait. I'm a very lucky girl."

"It's quite a fancy place so we get to dress up."

"Sounds good." I smiled and cuddled up to him.

I put a pretty dress on and did my hair and makeup. "You look beautiful Katie." Corey said walking in.

"Thanks Cor. You look incredible too. Very handsome." I said kissing him softly. He took my hands in his and squeezed them.

"Let's get going Angel. We don't want to be late." I nodded and grabbed my bag. "Goodnight Theo. We will see you later. I love you buddy." Corey and I ruffled his fur together before leaving. We got the subway so that we'd be able to have a few drinks with our meal. We arrived and the place looked amazing, and really romantic.

"Wow. This place looked amazing C. I can already tell we are going to have a wonderful evening." I said holding him close.

"Good evening Sir, how may I help you?" A waiter said coming over to us as we stood by the door.

"Hello, I have a reservation under Corey Cott for 7pm." The man checked his book and smiled.

"Right this way." He led us over to a table and Corey pulled a chair out and I sat down, smiling at him lovingly. "Here is the menu and our wine list. I'll be back shortly to take your order."

I picked up the wine list as Corey began looking though the menu. "Red or white honey?"

"You choose. This is your birthday dinner." He said softly. I selected a red wine that I recognised the name of because Kara has told me about it, and said it was really good.
