The reception was barely starting but Theo needed to leave.
She tried smiling whenever an enthusiastic cousin came around and now her face hurt, and a dull throb was picking up the best in her head.
Turning she saw Chris trying to escape her gilded cage for the day.
That woman didn't have it in her to sit still and enjoy any event. She found satisfaction in doing stuff to help it along.
But not today, she was going to sit through this one.
Picking up her cell phone and clutch, she moved to intercept Chris who was already trying to weasley around Shelby.
Not working mum.
Then Iris came around when Theo reminded Chris that the ushers were actually being paid to serve her.
'You're making it worse. Mum try to just sit back and enjoy your husband for a couple of hours before you have to share him with us again. Okay?', Iris said to calm her mum down.
It seemed to work because Chris heaved a sigh and said,
'Well when you put it like that, then I have to go and enjoy it. And would you look at that, he's already looking for me'
'Please go before he leaves the table too', urging her mum on. As truly, dad was looking for his wife.
Seeing a relative getaway she took it. She noticed the stranger Iris was looking at, but she wasn't in the mood to know who he was.
Safely in the confines of her room, she looked for her pills and took them.
When she felt relatively calmer, she called the security house on scheduling her flight for tonight.
She would cook up an excuse later for mum and dad.
Taking off her shoes, she passed bare footed to Daddy office to place it where he would see it first.
She had found a very old picture of him and mum in a dance. A waltz by the looks of it, and she had paid good money to have it painted on a large canvas.
She loved it, and she was sure that dad would love it too.
What happened was reason enough to realize that life was too short to be hung up on some things.
And at the same time too short to lose sight of something as important as your spouse.
Well, her single ass was going to go recreate herself for her first. Then if Ian's brain didn't kick in on time, well that'll be just sad.
Running her hand over the painting, a beep notified her that the jet could move by 6pm. Meaning that she had about four hours till then.
Two to pack and two for the journey to the airport.
Two hours later she was fully packed and finally went to hunt mum and dad to say her good byes.
She saw them in his office, entranced by the painting.
She smiled as she looked at them.
She too wanted something as good as they did. Well, that'll have to wait.
'Hey lovebirds!', she broke them out of their reverie.
'Oh my darling girl this is so lovely!', Chris hugged her tight.
'That was our dance on the balcony after I played Lady in red, literally. And the painting captured it all. Oh it's so precious!',
'Glad I could have it made in time too. I'm off though. Need to look over a construction site in Turkey in two days. Love you so much dad',
She got her hug from Bishop, who kissed her forehead like only him could.
Gosh she would miss them terrible.
This good bye was feeling final and she didn't know why.
Bishop wiped the tear she didn't know what escaping.
'Wherever it is you are going or running to, just remember that this house will always be yours too and we will always be here for you'
'Oh daddy!!', she sobbed into his chest.
'I know, I know. It hurts but it'll be better soon. He'll come around',
She looked at him in surprise.
'Hey, only a blind man won't see the love brewing between you two. But it's always better to let the Lord have His way. Don't forget it okay?'
She nodded, when she felt more stable she left his embrace and went to retrieve her tote. The rest of her luggage where already in the waiting car.
As the drove out of the estate, she felt her heart sink. But one thing she knew, she'll be alright.
Going into the jet, she didn't acknowledge anybody as she was more focused on putting one foot in front of the other.
When she finally entered, she was greeted by a sight that she definitely wasn't looking for.
