Three weeks have passed as the autumn has come. I stretched my body and took the last deep inhale of this place's scenery.

It took exactly a month to handle the aftermath of the conflicts. Negotiation with the Wests, strategy for the renewal of the affected area, people's relocation. Why am I handling these things? Well, Floyd made me.

He asked me to help him settle the cleans up, thus holding me here for so long. The Northern military had returned last week, leaving only a troupe as my guards while I'm here. Floyd returned yesterday and today I was finally able to leave after wrapping the rests.

"Master Darren, the car is ready," a man told me. I gave him a nod.

Without a second glance, I walked out and leave this place.

"Finally, home!" Caleb stretched his body as soon as he stepped out of the car. After a long ride back, we arrived in the mansion past noon in the North.

The door was opened for me and I took a deep breath of the chilly wind of the North. It is colder like it's already winter but I feel more comfortable with this weather. I step out of the car, greeted by a line of servants.

I see familiar faces bowing upon my arrivals.

"When will you go home, Caleb?" I asked my cousins who walked into the mansion with me.

"Tomorrow, or the day after tomorrow, maybe. You know my house is further than here, I need good food and a little rest before continuing my journey," he said dramatically. Well, I don't really mind him in the mansion, but I don't want Caden to feel uncomfortable by him. Speaking of which...

"Where's Caden?" I asked George while handing him my coat.

"He's been going to the town since morning?" Did he forget I return today?

"With Harry?" I asked, again.

"No. Harry has been on the leave since yesterday," George answered. "He looked rushed and didn't bring anyone," he added.

"And no one followed?"

"Jason followed but he said he lost his sight and returned."

"He often went to town right? No need to worry too much, Darren," Caleb chiming in. "You, bring some food to my room," Caleb instructed a nearby servant and left.

It's true that Caden often goes to town alone. But... today is the day I returned. He was always on stand-by on the day like this.

"Call Jason to the office," I said to George.

"You should rest first, Master," George advised. That's a tempting suggestion after a long journey, still, I can't get rid of these unsettled feelings. I need to make sure, first.

"Just call Jason to the office, George. Also, bring me tea and a change of clothes," I ordered.

With that George only nodded.

The first thing I notice when I enter my office is how empty it is. I look at the tidiest presence my working desk can be. The stack of documents became so low that I thought there weren't any. The desk was also so clean like it hadn't been used.

"Nothing happened when I'm gone?" I asked George as I sat down on my chair.

"Business as usual?" George answered with a questioning look.

"And why are there only these few reports?" I point at the few unresolved documents on my table.

"Ah..." George suddenly realized what I meant. "Sir Caden finished everything. Only new documents that come in today that have not been checked," he answered.

I remember leaving some unresolved matters upon my sudden leaving. Then, I realize an unfamiliar folder of papers on my desk.

"What's this?" I asked as I opened it slowly. I skim through the pages that seem like a summary of many cases.

"Summary of some cases for you to know," George answered. "Sir Caden prepared it for you. He said it only for important things."

He finished all my jobs, huh? I smiled in amusement as I looked at the summary of many requests and issues that came when I was gone.

A knock on the door and Jason comes in. "You called for me, Sir?"

"Where did Caden go?" I asked straightforwardly.

"To the town, Sir," Jason answered nervously.

"And you didn't follow him? Didn't I assign you as his personal guards?" I raise my voice.

"I followed him, but... he seems to notice my presence. He disappeared into the crowd before I could catch him."

"Do you have any idea where he is going?"

"I'm sorry, Sir."

"I think it's nothing, Master Darren. Sir Caden often went to town and always came back before dinner. I'm sure he'll come back soon," George assured me.

Well, I know exactly his behavior, but it didn't erase my restlessness about him not being here when I came back. I sighed, feeling tired, don't really want to prolong this.

"Tell him to come and see me as soon as he returns," I instructed them as they left the room.

I rest my head on the chair. Looking at the documents, I pick one to distract me for a while.

"Sir, it's time for dinner," a servant informed me from behind the door.

I look at the clock and it shows a quarter past seven. I was so absorbed in reading Caden's report summaries that I didn't realize the time passed by. And he hasn't come back? I got up from my chair, trying to be composed as I walked towards the dining room.

A sweet unfamiliar scent comes from the front door when I pass the corridors. Small noises can be heard distantly from the same source.

"What happened?" I asked the servant who accompanied me.

She gave me a questioning look, didn't understand my question. I change my direction and head to where the voices are coming from.

On the front door, I saw two men with a hood talking to the front guards. A light brown hair man and pinkish blond hair who looks younger. Omegas? I never hire any Omega as a servant, too troublesome. The only Omegas that can lay their feet to this mansion are only sons, daughters, or partner of one of the Nobles around.

I step down to hear clearer.

"What's all this ruckus?" I heard a voice approaching and saw Caleb walking in, attracted by the noises. He stops his walks and looks surprised upon seeing the two men. No, the blond-haired one. His eyes were focused on him and vice versa. The light brown one notices my arrival and immediately storms through the unalert guards.

"Lord Darren, we need your help!" he kneeled before me, the moment I stepped down. I step back as he becomes too close to me, showing my displeased face. "We're sorry, Sir," the guard apologize for letting him make a way towards me while forcefully picked him up.

"It's about Sir Re- Caden!" the man voice out.

Caden's name piques my ears. How the heck Caden affiliates himself with Omega?

I raised my hand to stop the guards from restricting him. I need to know what he meant. The man looks relieved when the guards release him. I openly showed my displeased look towards him, hasn't trusted this person. "Speak!" I command him, tensing the surrounding aura so he won't dare lie.

He trembled to his knee, head stays low. "It's about Sir Caden. He visited our place this afternoon... Not long after, some guys came and forcibly took him." The young man took some courage to face up and look me in the eye.

"They're gone and I think he's in trouble."
