--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I fell into cold a few days after. My body feels heavy and my head keeps buzzing. Yuan had visited me and said it's just a common cold and gave me medicines after. Harry attend me and said probably because I inhaled too many pheromones.

I know why I was sick. The side effect of using the healing power too much, especially for treating others.

Darren came back yesterday. I didn't greet him. I was still unable to move my body and Harry told me to stay in bed. He also said that he will explain to him. Darren didn't visit me nor come to our room that night. Harry told me he stayed in his workroom, mending the work he left

Right after he come back? He sure is busy.

"You feel better?" Harry asked when he sees me sitting up the next morning. I nodded. I feel better today. A little headache but I don't feel as weak as before. "Do you think you can get up?" Harry asked again. I nodded again. "Let's go. Master Darren is waiting for you."

After Harry helps me prepare myself, we head to the breakfast room. If nothing happened, I always being asked to have breakfast with Darren. I entered the room to meet him along with several people. Darren, George, and two other men are gathered. The looks like they are in the middle of a meeting to discuss some territory business. I sat down at my usual place, then the food is served in front of me. Darren instruct me to start eating while the others act like I wasn't there. Typical.

"Spring is almost here and we'll execute our plan to grow the new types of grain with selected farmers. The seed has been distributed to them and we've given some knowledge and training."

I eat slowly, don't have any urge to eat.

"If we follow the procedures of care as what have been modeled from the system, it seems promising to produce a good amount for people."

I scoop the tasteless plain porridge from the bowl.

"The new version of the real-time monitoring system could detect anomalies and predict an early chance of corp failure. Thus enabling us to come up with better alternatives"

I don't have the urge to eat but keep scooping it.

"Based on the prediction for the current farming strategy, we could lessen the amount of imported crops for next winter."

On my way to bite the first half of the plate, I already feel so full and try my best to not show that I want to vomit.

"The remaining balance will be allocated to improve the public transport. Increasing more routes to access several remote districts."

I keep scooping in smaller portions. Have experiencing being poor, I don't want to waste the food that has been served.

"I don't see any problem, just go with the plan," Darren said stood up, ending their morning meeting. He suddenly stood up. "Come with me, Caden," he said.

I am a little startled by his sudden invitation. I haven't finished my breakfast but anyone knows better not to deny his command. I put the spoon down, drink a little then stood up to follow him. I don't know what happened to him but deep down I was so thankful as I am on the verge of vomiting.

We walk in silence through the mansion. He got to his office and instruct me to join. I rarely go here, only when he asked for my audience. "Sit," he said while sitting down on his work chair. I follow his instructions and sit on one of the couches. I am always fascinated by his workroom as many books were not in the library.

"Never force yourself to eat again," Darren suddenly talk. I was so surprised by his sudden words that I can't immediately respond. I only nod to respond to him.

"Do you want something light? You haven't eaten that much," he said. I again can not immediately answer his question. "Just a cup of tea... if I may," I said to him. Darren looked at me for a moment before picking his phone and order tea and some cakes to be delivered to his office.

"How's your visit?" I build some courage to ask him. He stopped looking at his paperwork for a moment to look at me. "It was fine," he said briefly. "As there would be more things to discuss, it would take some time before there are any join research with the Dorsenburg," Darren said again. I nodded understanding, and we stay silent for a while.

"How about you? You okay now? Leo told me you were sick for a couple of days," he said. Is he concerned about me? I nodded slowly, "I feel better," I lied.

A knock on the door give a halt to our conversation. A maid comes and put tea and some cakes in front of me. It was so weird to have others than Harry served me. I gave her a light thanks that she silenced. After she left, I sip my tea. It calms me and keeps down my nausea.

I just sat down there, drinking my tea while Darren did his works. I didn't touch the cake as I still don't want to eat. I usually like the silence but currently, I feel so uncomfortable with it now. I can't read the intention of him asking me to be here. Also, I feel so unproductive after a few days of staying in bed. I let go a long sighed build up some courage. He already knows my secret and I don't think it would bring any harm to utter some questions.

"Do you need anything from me?"

Darren slowly looks up from his works. Stare at me for a few moments. "No. Nothing in particular," he answered. I raised my eyebrow, confused. "So... why am I here?" I asked. "Just... because," Darren answered coming back on reading the reports. I sighed then stood up, getting bored. I wander around the room, looking at the book. I tried to be quiet as possible and Darren didn't send to bother my presence. Most of them are books of reports from several years back.

"What's your schedule for today?" Darren asked.

Good question. I don't know what to do these days. I don't have a real job and the translation project was finished faster than expected. The weather has gotten even colder and since my last visit to the town that makes me sick, Yuan forbid me to go out and I sure Darren have been told. "Reading some books... I think," I replied.

"Don't you already finish all in the library?"

"I brought new ones last week," I said.

"The time you go to town?" he asked and I just nodded. "Really, why are you sick?" Darren asked. I raised my shoulder, "I don't know. Doesn't Yuan told you?"

"Aren't you the smartest person here? Tell me," he said.

I sighed, "I think it was just a cold. I did stay too long in the cold last week," I said. Darren looks at me with a risen eyebrow with an unbelieved look. "The truth is, I don't know. I haven't research properly on my own body... Maybe Caden is just that weak," I add more lie to convince him more. He doesn't need to know. No one needs to know.

I can hear Darren gave a long sighed. "Okay," he said. "Asked Yuan to check you up again."

I just nodded upon hearing that. I won't.

"Also, tell Harry to bring your books here. From now on just stay here. All your previous suggestions had proven working well. Too well and too efficient. I need some good advice to take care of several other problems and your knowledge could be useful," Darren explains and I just stay silent like a dumb person. "So, what do you think?" he said and continue working with his paper works.

"Sure." I just land a new job.
