Lunch rolled around quicker than I had thought it would. I was curious to meet her friends, considering that if they were anything like Tinsley, I would hate them. I finished copying up all the notes, before gathering my things up. I stopped by my locker to put my books away, tucking Keaton's notes inside as well, considering we are 'locker buddies.'
When I'd made my way to the Cafeteria or the Canteen, which is what they called it here, everyone was chatting. Sure enough, in the middle of the canteen was two tables pushed together. It seemed as though everybody gravitated around those tables. I waited in the line for a slice of pizza and when I'd gotten it, I made my way to the middle table. Tinsley was sat next to Keaton. Benjamin sat opposite and five other people were there.
"Oh. Guys this is Darcy, my half-sister."
Everyone gave me a little wave and I slide into the free seat next to Benjamin, opposite Tinsley.
"This is India, my best friend."
She points towards the girl sat next to her. Her lips were painted red and she had a short bob like Tinsley, except hers was an ombre of black to grey and curled at the ends. Her nose was flat and her eyebrows thin. She definitely looked like a magazine cover, especially with the icy stare she was giving me. She pressed her lips together, staring at my plate in disgust.
"Opposite India is Tabitha."
Tabitha gave me a friendly wave and a small smile. She was mixed race, with bouncy hair with went from brown to blonde. Her hair length was as long as mine. Her lipgloss was neatly applied and her eyebrows were thick but well outlined.
"Over there is Felix."
Felix was a lanky guy from what I could see. His hair was jet black and buzzed. He smiled at me, nodding his head curtly. I could tell he didn't talk much and was kind of shy. His lips were practically non-existent and he looked like a serious character.
"Next to Felix is his girlfriend, Violette."
Violette looked up at me, her green eyes bored. Her ginger hair was up in a bun, some wisps laying against her face. Her lips were also covered in red like Tinsley's and India's. She looked back down, not bothering to say or do anything.
"There's Gideon on the end."
Gideon was a little shorter than the rest of the guys. He had mousy, brown hair that looked like it had been gelled and someone ran a comb through it. He flashes me a smile, his eyes crinkling.
"That is Ben."
Ben winks at me.
"And this is Keaton."
"We are locker buddies." Keaton says, rolling his pizza up.
"Cool." Tinsley states, flashing me a warning smile.
I take a bite out of my pizza.
"You're really going to eat the whole thing?" India says, eyeing the pizza of my plate like it was radioactive.
"Yeah. Why?"
She looks down at me, eyeing my body. "No reason."
She dismisses the topic before I can even ask, talking to Tinsley about something that had happened this weekend. Everyone had broken off into different groups, talking about different things. By sitting here observing, I'd realised who was grouped with who and what this whole social ladder thing was.
Gideon, Violette and Felix seemed like a tight knitted group. As well as Keaton, Ben, India and Tinsley. The only person who I thought was left out, was Tabitha. She sat there, eating her pizza, not conversing with anyone. It seemed like she wanted to but it also seemed like she knew what would happen if she did.
