I wake up with a blanket spread over me and my head resting on Keaton's chest. When I look around, nobody is there, leaving me slightly confused. I look around for my phone, finding it on a coffee table. I dial Tabitha's number.
"Hey! You're awake now."
"Mhm. Where are you guys?"
"We went to McDonald's."
I look at the time, which reads eight. "Oh, okay."
"Do you want anything?''
"No, I'm full from the diabetes in a bowl."
Tabitha laughs. "Right. We'll probably be home in half an hour. Behave yourself."
"Behave?"
"You have Keaton all to yourself."
"Bye."
Tabitha giggles before hanging up the phone. I didn't know whether to wake Keaton up or not, so I laid back into the position I had awoken from. However, this causes him to wake up.
"Hey." He mumbles, his voice thick with sleep.
"Hey."
"Where'd they go?"
"McDonald's. It's just us."
"Oh."
I move my head to look up the ceiling. Keaton's hand hangs loosely around my waist and I couldn't help the deep shade of red rising on my cheek.
"I'm gonna get some water." I say, standing up from our cosy position.
My feet patter against Tabitha's tiles and into the kitchen. I fill my cup with water from the bottle before sipping on it. I turn around to see Keaton observing me, making me yelp. I place the cup onto the table, pulling my sweaters hand cuffs down.
"Are you okay?" I ask, playing with my fingers.
"Yeah. Miles seems fun."
"Mhm. He is."
"You guys used to date?"
I clear my throat. "Yeah. A while back but never again."
"Why?"
"Some revelations came out about him so it can never happen."
"So you still want it to happen?"
"Not really," I murmur.
He takes a seat at the kitchen island. "You don't seem sure."
"Why all the questions?"
"I'm just wondering."
"Miles is just my best friend."
"So you say."
"Why do you care so much anyways?"
"I don't."
"You do. So tell me why."
"Ain't nothing but a heartache."
"I'm being serious."
"I don't know why. I just really like you."
"Really like me?" I ask, my lips forming a grin.
"Yes Darcy, I'm very much interested in you."
"Is that so?"
"Yes, despite us only knowing each other for like a week and a half."
"It's not like we're going to start dating."
Keaton blushes, hiding his face in his hands. "Of course not. I was just putting myself out there."
