"What do you mean she's gone?"

"I'm sorry Rhys, she passed on the way to the hospital." Steve explains to the blonde 13 year old.

Riley's eyes well with tears, and her breathing becomes heavy. Her mother was gone, dead. Her best friend, her everything. Gone like that.

(Present Day - November 17th 2034)

A now 33 year old Riley looks around and her new surroundings. She's never been here before. Nor does she know how she got here.

"Riley?" A silky smooth voice speaks from behind the blue haired girl. Riley turns around and is met with emerald green eyes and blonde hair.

"Mom?"

"Oh baby, what happened?"

"I-i don't know, am I dead?"

(3 hours earlier)

"Please be careful baby." Kimberly says.

"I will, I promise honey. It's not a dangerous mission, a hostage situation. We'll be in and out. I should be home in a few hours."

Kimberly nods and pulls the shorter woman into a hug. "I love you."

Riley hugs her wife and leans up to kiss her momentarily. "I love you too beautiful."

Kimberly smiles. "Now go kick some ass."

"Yes Ma'am."

Kimberly chuckles and gives Riley one last kiss before letting her go. Riley smiles and kisses each of their kids, she does this with every mission. Not knowing which one will be her last.

Riley then heads to the awaiting quinjet. Where Peter was waiting for her.

After barley an hour they arrived at their location. Riley gives out orders with ease before heading towards the building.

"Group A, in position." A voice speaks through the comms not a minute later.

"Peter?"

"Group B, in position." Peter speaks not a moment after.

"Alright, on my count. 3...2..." Riley's voice is drowned out by a loud shot.

Riley doesn't have time to react before a searing pain hits her chest. She clamps a hand over to the spot and feels wetness. She pulls her hand away and her hand is red with blood.

"Riley? Riley?" Peter's worried voice fills her ear as her vision begins to blur.

Riley coughs and falls to her knees. "I... I'm down..."

"Riley, stay where you are. I'm coming." Peter speaks quickly.

Riley presses her hand against the wound and groans in pain. She can feel herself becoming weaker each second.

She falls onto her side and groans again. Her breathing becoming shallow. The last thing she hear before she falls into blackness is Peter calling her name.

Carol's expression softens and she pulls her daughter into a tight hug. "You are my little star. I'm sorry."
