Chapter 3

I checked my phone for the time and gods, It was already 1:23 pm!! "Uhh guys, I have to leave-" I said looking up at my friends. "-sorry but my parents might be home by now"
"It's okay Beth', I'll be leaving in a bit too" Jason responded as Thalia nodded her head yes.

I muttered a quick okay and started towards the door, well of course after I paid for all the coffee and snacks my small tummy consumed. I opened the door when my wrist was pulled by someone. I turned around to find Percy. I raised an eyebrow as if asking 'what?'
"I'm leaving too so, I can drive you back home... If you... want" He said. Well, I don't exactly have a car to go back from and a walk will be horrible at the moment. So I can say yes- "sure unless you make sure
Rachel doesn't come after me-or any of her minions" I smiled and he chuckled. "I'll make sure that doesn't happen"

I opened the door wider so he and I, both could go through. Now if you're wondering. 'Hm, Rachel, you mentioned her before. What so bad about her?' well, she and I were best friends in middle school and she's a very sweet girl, still is but sometimes, her sugar-coated words will rip you apart. As I was saying, by the end of middle school, her popularity (according to her) was larger than mine. And so she just left me because of her so-called popularity. She and Percy had started to date. because y' know, cheerleader and jock. Percy was the captain of the swim team and Rachel was- well you get what I mean. Well anyways, we reached Percy's car and we got in. I gave him my address and he started driving. it was quiet until I asked "What exactly happened between you and Rachel? I mean only if you want to tell me, of course" he looked at me for a moment. and then sighed. "she cheated on me" he muttered in a small voice. glancing at him I saw that he was heartbroken. like completely heartbroken. "and you loved her, huh?" I muttered the same way he did. he shook his head while chuckling. "...yeah" he said silently. Which made me regret asking him that question. "I'm sorry.. " I quickly added before things could get awkward. Which didn't exactly help because it was still awkward after he nodded and said it was okay. "I know she still likes me and all- so I'm not as sad as I was beforebefore-but, it hurts. It hurts bad"

It was around 1:50pm when I reached home. Percy, being the nice guy he was, well at least for the moment, opened the car door for me to step out. I quickly waved him off and went in the house. After I took my shoes off, which left me in my blue and white striped socks, I headed to the living room. Just to find my dad and Helen sitting there, as if they were waiting for me. Maybe I can even ask them about last night. "Ah, Annabeth, honey you're finally home! " My dad greeted. I smiled and nodded. "Where's Bobby and Matthew? " I asked. "Oh they were tired, so they're kinda taking a nap" Helen said. I nidded and moved over to sit beside Helen on the couch.

"So, we're you guys waiting for me or... something..? ". Dad looked at Helen, with an expression that clearly was as if he was reluctant to what they were about to do right now. Helen although, gave dad a glare, as if saying 'we've been over this before". Which I suppose they actually did. (Oh what can I say, I can just read people like an open book 😌)

Dad then looked over at me. It was a moment before he started. "We'll have to move California" He said. So quick that it took me longer than a normal person to digest such a sentence.

No.

No. No. No.

I can't. I don't want to!! Not California that's like, across the whole country!
My eyes widened. "Dad, what!? And how long have you known about this??" I asked, absolutely horrified that I'll have to leave my soulmate and all my friends. And if you're wondering why added soulmate. It's 'cause he told me he lived in New York. And yes it can be anywhere in New Yourk but- you get the point!

"Annabeth I'm sorry. We know about your whole soulmate situation but- we have to go and we're not leaving you behind. And besides, we'll find a good school for you and-"

"No.. I- I don't want to leave New York" I wispered, on the verge of tears. I literally grew up here! I've lived here all my life! I can5 just move away like that!

How will I find my soulmate then...
