Ever since Mrs. Bainbridge resigned herself to Selma's threats, it was common to find her in the Bainbridge house in the afternoons, and from time to time Pietro joined her.

While Mr. Abot's fortune couldn't buy him the Bainbridge prestige, Gary felt that wasn't enough for him. He had aroused admiration for figures like that eccentric man wearing flashy clothes and cowboy hats indoors and other nouveau riche who specialized in the area of technology.

He was not comfortable enough in his own environment, as his father was not the head of the family, and he knew that Victor would receive most of the inheritance as a firstborn. To this must be added that his parents' fortunes dwarfed against that of other friends in their circle, such as Lucas, his long-time friend; his beloved Sabrina, the Cornells, and even his cousins and uncles. This prompted him not to want to follow in his father's footsteps to work in the family business, wishing instead to enter the technology industry alongside those strong men whom he regarded as gods, and to achieve great fortune as well.

He was cautiously excited to see Mr. Abot's SUV parked in front of his house and accompanied by the convoy of black cars and security guards. On one occasion, while studying in the library, he realized that Pietro had come to meet his mother, and once the man had entered the room, he peeked through the door that connected both rooms, hoping to discover the reasons that would bring make a matron like Anna and a tycoon like Pietro meet. It was easier for him to hope that his father would be the one to meet this man.

He got to hear the ceremonial greetings and his mother talk about Mrs. Cornell, and he couldn't hear enough before the butler approached him.

"Excuse me, young Bainbridge, I just have to ask you to please stand down. Your mother has given orders that this meeting must remain private for all members of the household without exception.

Gary took one more look at the guests, before reluctantly closing the door and flinging himself onto the couch, guessing what they might be talking about. He hoped one day to be introduced to Pietro, and so every time Selma came, he would walk into the main hall expecting to meet him.

"Take this, will you?" Mrs. Lowell said, handing him her wallet as she pulled something out of her purse.

Without being able to say anything he took it. Selma checked her phone while the butler waited in silence, visibly uncomfortable with the interaction of these two.

When she finally saw what she wanted, she snatched the wallet and put it away.

"Are you looking at my breasts?" She asked, feeling inappropriate looks.

Gary shook nervously and looked at the butler.

"Be very careful, kiddo. Don't they say I'm dangerous?"

She laughed and went to the door while Gary stood still.
