This will be a tad different from what I usually do :,(

"Honey, isn't she beautiful?" My mom exclaimed when she gave me the heart shaped necklace.

"Yeah, she is," my dad gave my mom a side hug; they both smiled at me.

"This necklace is very special, and everyone has one or has had one," she knelt down to me. "When the necklace breaks, you will know you met your soulmate."

"What's a soulmate?" I asked her.

She smiled. "A soulmate is someone you will love forever and start a family with. Someone who makes you truly happy; can you guess who my soulmate is?" She questioned me.

"Daddy?" It was a wild guess. I was only eight, how could I know.

"That's right! When we met, out necklaces broke and we knew then that we were a pair. Of course, we were polar opposites, but it's about finding the person who is your missing puzzle piece."

Back then, my mother was ill. She didn't have much time left with us, and my heart was confused when my dad came home with a necklace on after my mother passed. How was he supposed to love someone else when my mother was supposed to be his only love? "God knows what to do," were the only words my dad said coming home that night.

"God will know what to do," I smiled down at my mothers grave. "Doesn't he look so happy?" My father was remarried, she was also a widow.

"(Y/N), would you like to go to Margos this afternoon?" My stepmom asked as she walked up to me.

"Yes, please. I'm dying for their corned beef hash as of now," I giggled.

"Me three!" My dad quickly said.

"Dad, you didn't even give her the chance to say 'me too,'" I laughed.

He chuckled.

"Now, there is no possible way to take it off," my mother spoke, her smile had gone. She was serious. "It will not break, until you have found your person."

"It's okay mommy, it's really pretty; why would I want to take it off?"

When she died. I tried and tried. But the heart was stuck like glue. I missed her.

But my necklace was cracked.

Unlike many others heart necklaces, nobody has ever heard of this, and we didn't know how either.

"One plate of corned beef hash and a plate of (favorite/breakfast/food)," our waitress sat the wonderful food in front of me.

"It looks so good, thank you," I smiled.

"My pleasure!"

"So, how long have you been talking to that guy online for?" My dad piped up.

"Over a year and a half now," I said, shoving some (f/b/f) into my mouth. "We finally get to meet this Friday. He wants to meet you guys."

"He's a very cute gentleman. Is he real?" My stepmom poked fun at me.

"Of course he's real. We've video chatted and talk over the phone all the time," I took a sip of my drink. "Mark probably isn't my soulmate, but maybe you don't always have to meet the most perfect person for you."

My dads and stepmoms necklaces both broke again. They probably think I'm acting crazy right now.

"You could be right my dear," my stepmom smiled to me, genuinely.

She reminded me so much of my mother, it kind of hurt. Like she was magically her reincarnation.

But I love her just the same.
