Wally paled. Meet Dick's siblings. Oh shit. Oh shit. Slade he could get through a meal with, but all of them. Joey seemed cool. Probably the most down to earth in the family. Grant was almost as scary as Slade. And Rose, he never met her.
"Wally?" Dick took his hand pulling Wally's attention back to him, "If it's too much I can tell them no."
Wally shook his head, "It's alright. I'm just... What's going to happen?"
Dick opened his mouth to tell his boyfriend that everything was going to be fine. However, the door slamming open and a body jumping on both boys, cut it off. Dick groaned. Wally was too shocked to do anything.
"Joey, get out." Dick grumbled.
The guilty man laughed letting Wally go but latching onto Dick, "Nope, little brother. I want to meet your boyfriend as of nearly a year."
Dick shoved at his brother but he was heavy, "Get your fat self off of me."
"I'm not fat." Joey grumbled offended but got off, "Hello, Wallace."
"Um, hi." Wally moved himself away from the bigger man, hiding himself slightly behind Dick.
Joey smiled softly, "No need to be scared. Well not yet. Grant's almost here and Rose is in the kitchen with Wintergreen."
"This is the last time I'm ever telling anyone of you about someone coming over." Dick growled, leaning back into Wally's chest. Wally instantly wrapped his arms around Dick pulling him flush against him.
Joey smiled at it, "Well, I came in to tell you that supper with be ready in ten. So don't get into anything before that and get ready for super. Well that's I got, see you at super." With that the man skipped out of the room, leaving the door wide open.
"That wasn't that bad." Wally mumbled.
Dick softly laughed, "Rose is calmer. She'll like you. Grant will be the most annoying." When he saw the weary face of his boyfriend, Dick turned around in Wally's lap. His legs wrapped around Wally's waist. Leaning forward Dick placed his forehead against Wally's, "Wally. Forget who we are for a second and tell me what's making you scared."
"Dick, I... Your family is tall and intimidating and..." Wally took in a deep breath, trying to pull all his courage in and spit out what he needed to say, "My parents are alive, Dick. I live with Uncle Barry for a different reason."
Dick though about his words, trying to peace together what Wally was trying to say without saying it. It click after a second, "Who hurt you?" Dick whispered.
"My Father. My mother did nothing to stop it." Wally was clinging to Dick trying and failing not to cry.
Dick held him. Petting his wind tossed red hair, as Wally silently cried. When Wally calmed down and the red in his eyes were no longer openly present, they made their way to the kitchen. Joey, Grant and Rose sat at the table debating with each other. Slade was leaning on a counter sipping from a coffee mug. The older man, Wintergreen, was setting out bowls of food.
Wally remembered Joey and Grant from that day a year ago. Grant was still tall and intimidating, with his brown blonde hair and gray blue eyes. Joey on the other hand was shorter than Grant, not by much, and had bright blue eyes and platinum blonde hair. The person he didn't know was Rose. She looked the most like Slade. It might have been the white hair and eye patch but her eyes were his as well.
She grinned at him, "You must be Wally. I haven't gotten the chance to meet you yet."
Wally gave her a small smile back, "Hi."
Grant and Joey laughed softly, "She won't bite." Grant called out, "Well not yet."
Wally nervously shuffled back. Rose turned and wacked her eldest bother's arm, "Not funny Grant. You don't need to scare him. He's already nerves. Come one Wally, you can sit next to me and be away from those two mean boys."
Joey and Grant barked protest, saying they weren't kids. Wally sat down next to Rose as Dick took the other seat next to him. The meal was mostly Joey, Grant, Rose, and Dick bickering back and forth. Rose asked Wally a quiet question every now and than. Slade and Wintergreen ate silently. Wally was thankful, he wasn't dragged into any conversations or forced to talk. He just watched as they interacted.
Soon the verbal fighting turned to a physical one, with food. Something went flying Wally's way only for a hand to pull him a side just in time. The pull had him on his feet away from his seat. When he looked to see who had pulled him from the hustle, he was met with an impassive face and cool gray blue eye.
The man was leaning against the kitchen counter a cup of coffee in his hands. Wintergreen also looked to have extract himself from the food fight. Wally watched on with amusement and a little envy. This was Dick's family and he felt like an outsider.
"Wallace."
Wally turned to look at Slade knowing it was now the warning about hurting Dick, would end with him with loss of limbs, "Yes, sir?"
Slade gave him a small turn of the lips that was more warming than any beaming smile, "I'm not going to threaten you. Dick's brothers will do enough of that. I just want to say that if you need anything, all you need to do is ask." He looked into Wally's eyes, "I mean it Wallace. Grant and me may come off a bit scary at times but we try."
Wally nodded, "Thank you."
Slade nodded, "Now, get over there and teach them a lesson about having fun." He placed a water ballon discreetly in Wally's hands, out of Wintergreen's sight, "I never gave you this."
Wally smiled back at him, before turning and throwing the water balloon. Chaos issued.
