It's been a while since her grand entrance.
Torches blazing and angry screaming, she had burst out of the thick woods with her last breath before she dove under a seemingly inconspicuous rock buried in the sandy beaches. With every hitched breath she desperately tried to keep her existence unknown to the angry mob that crashed unto the sandy beaches. Wiping their eyes as they searched and turned, all but she was left behind the grumbles of the obviously disappointed crowd.
Then, without further hesitation or delay, she had set out to chop some trees with an axe she had for some reason been carrying in her inventory. Gathering the logs of the fallen she hastily arranged them in order, one set by one another. And I, for one, was always curious about the human that walked on land but... what my eyes had me think of a million questions across my mind.
With her hands stretched and her eyes closed she muttered something... and if by pure magic, the logs were quite literally stuck to each other! But it all soon fell apart as soon as the magic was cast. She appeared quite distressed about this as she looked around the beaches for something...
As the sun set and moon rose from the oceans she plopped down, melancholically against her creation. Flopping her arms and legs unto the sand, she closed rubbed her eyes before letting her head hit the logs quite dangerously.
And there she sat... and sat... and sat. Before long, what started out as a spark of curiosity slowly but gradually turned into worries for her well-being. I argued with myself a little and overall questioned the actions I was about to take and consequences that would result in those actions. But it was all swept aside soon enough, for I had to help her.
Quickly diving back into the depths of the sea I grabbed a few fishes that should suffice and double as a 'peace offering' to her as well as fill up her already famished body, well I thought so anyways. Breaking through the surface of the sea, my presence had alerted the previously resting human... which undoubtedly screamed in terror. And I fully understood and respected her decision because I too would scream at something that was at least 30 times taller then me.
Stretching my hand across the coast to her I gently set the fish down, with half my body submerged the surface of the sea. It was then at that moment where I regretted not being able to speak the human language, so I backed off with my head still above the water. We stared at each other for a while, and as if I would attack her if she'd moved... she had stayed as still as an inanimate object since I revealed myself.
Sensing her shock, I tried again. This time I pushed the fish towards her... still no reaction. And so I picked a fish up a pretended to eat it while looking at her, all while she watched with eyes filled with terror. But before long, she'd stood up and inched ever so slightly towards the fish before once again using that weird magic to somehow have a flower of never-seen-before fire on her palm.
This was never done in the ocean and more so never heard of so I would've thought she was crazy if I hadn't spent my years observing those who had approached the broad, wide sea. She eyes me one last time before ripping a rather large chunk out of the fish with her teeth as she mauled the fish, wolfing it down quite aggressively.
And in the blink of an eye, the fishes that I've caught, which were definitely at least half the size of the human, we gone. She chucked the bones of her most recently devoured fish away before looking at me again, and I smiled... without revealing my sharp teeth.
"ᖶᕼᗩᘉᖽᐸ ᖻᓍᑘ..." she said with a small smile of her own.
Taking her intelligible words as a small sign of gratitude, I nodded my head in return before pointing to the strangely arranged logs of wood that she'd assembled. Her eyes dimmed as she broke contact, and with that her spirits dropped once more. To be chased and hunted by her own kind, I pitied her. And all I wished to do was to just console her.
So with my hands slowly inching towards her body, her eyes closed as her body stiffened: she was scared. But showing no hostility, I wrapped my finger around her fragile form as I lifted her off the ground. I hugged her against my scaly skin and drew imaginary circles on her back with my finger, hoping to console or at least calm her down.
We stayed like that for a while, and all I saw when I pulled away was a teary eyed girl that held my fingers close. She then, with one of her fingers, pointed at the sea. Confused as to why she was doing so, I gave her a confused look.
She then tapped my finger and pointed at the ground, gesturing her return to the ground. I obliged her request and stared curiously as she started to draw in the sand. First, a irregularly shaped circle and two smaller circles beside the bigger one. She then walked a few steps away from the circles before drawing another big circle.
She pointed at the smaller circles, then at me. I nodded my head, those circles represented us. She then pointed at the bigger circle that she draw further away from 'us' and she gestured a walking motion towards it. It was then at that moment I realized, those weren't just a bunch of randomly arranged logs... it was a boat of sorts.
She walked towards me and pointed at me, and held her hands out. Picking her up off the ground she then pointed at the sea once again. I looked at her once again, checking for confirmation. Her eyes conveyed the message I needed; it was hard not to notice the determination in her eyes...
Maybe she was desperate to get away from the people on this land or, she had just trusted me enough to help her... either way, I was touched to gain her trust. I first placed her on my shoulder before I laid down on the water; gently nudging her unto my back before I swam off to the land beyond under the moonlight.
Short, and simple. I could've added a little bit more fluff but eh. :V
